This article takes the Chinese textbook Huawen for the upper grades of Chinese primary schools in Malaysia as the research object,mainly conducts a systematic investigation and analysis from two aspects of text topics and genres,and statistics the proportion of different topics and genres in textbooks and the classification of textbooks in each grade.At the same time,it discusses the adaptability of students to the text of the textbook and its curriculum.In terms of topics,among the 18 topics stipulated by the curriculum standards,the matching degree between the topics of the textbooks of the three grades and the topics stipulated by the curriculum standards is 94%.The content of the textbooks in the three grades is abundant;the topics with the largest number are basically the same;it reflects the diverse local culture.In terms of genre,the 7 genres in the curriculum standards are all involved in the higher grades textbooks.The matching percentage of the genre of the textbooks of the higher grade materials and the topics specified in the curriculum standards is 100%.The genre with the largest number of texts is narrative and explanatory texts,the smallest genre is mythical stories,and some text types are unevenly distributed.I conducted student questionnaires and teacher interviews with users of textbooks to discuss the use of textbooks.According to the students’ feedback,the students’ favorite topics are very consistent.Teachers’ feedback on the topics of teaching materials is that the topics and knowledge involved in the teaching materials are very extensive,but it is recommended that the difficulty should be controlled.In terms of genre,the feedback from teacher interviews is that the discussion papers and application articles should be distributed in three textbooks in order to better meet the learning needs of students.According to the analysis results,I concluded that the topics and genres of the textbooks and the teaching methods used by teachers have not fully met the students’ adaptability and learning needs.Therefore,according to the feedback of textbook users,this paper puts forward corresponding teaching material compilation suggestions and combines the existing curriculum syllabus with constructivist theory,and proposes teaching suggestions based on constructivist theory and with higher adaptability.
