With the deepening of educational reform, students’ subjectivity in classroom teaching has become increasingly prominent, and scholars’ research on students’ classroom participation has become increasingly in-depth,mainly from the factors affecting students’ classroom participation, improvement strategies and so on.Students’ classroom participation is the process evaluation of students’ learning, while academic achievement is the final evaluation. What is the relationship between the two? This study understands students’ classroom participation through recorded classroom teaching videos and targeted interviews, and determines students’ academic performance through questionnaires,so as to analyze the classroom participation of students with different academic performance,so as to explore the impact of classroom participation on senior high school students’ chemical academic performance.Firstly, this study combs the literature related to the research topic and defines the concepts related to students’ classroom participation.Students’ classroom participation will be studied from three elements: behavioral participation, cognitive participation and emotional participation.Secondly,209 students from four classes of grade one in a key high school in Jining City,Shandong Province were selected as the research object. The classroom teaching video of redox reaction was recorded for two hours, and the redox reaction questionnaire was compiled according to the teachers’ teaching content.Thirdly, according to the classroom performance of students and the teaching content of teachers, the interview outline of cognitive participation and emotional participation is compiled.According to the students’ Questionnaire scores and classroom performance, and combined with the recommendation of teachers,9 expressive students with academic grades of A,B and C were selected for interview. Then, transcribe the video content and interview recording into text.According to a large number of documents, class videos and interview recordings, the level of students’ classroom participation elements is divided.Using Nvivo11 plus software to analyze the class recording video to determine the classroom behavior participation level of students with different academic achievements;Through the analysis of the interview manuscript,we can get the students’ cognitive participation level and emotional participation level in class. Finally, the relationship between students’ classroom participation and academic achievement is synthesized, and the conclusions are drawn and the corresponding teaching suggestions are put forward. The research shows that:(1)students’ classroom participation will affect their academic performance. On the whole, the higher the students’ classroom participation, the higher their academic performance. On the contrary, the lower the students’ classroom participation, the lower their academic performance.(2)Students’ classroom participation is determined by behavioral participation, cognitive participation and emotional participation.Only when the participation level of the three elements is high can students achieve high academic achievement. When the participation of one or more elements is low, students’ academic performance is also low.(3)The cognitive participation of low achievement students has a great impact on their academic performance. The innovation of the research:(1)using Nvivo11 plus software to analyze students’ classroom behavior participation, which provides a new method for evaluating students’ classroom participation.(2)The conclusion that students’ classroom participation will affect their academic performance provides a new basis for improving teachers’ classroom teaching quality.
