Computational thinking(CT)is regarded as one of the core thinking in stem(Science,technology,engineering and Mathematics)education.Therefore,the United States,Britain,Singapore and many other countries are actively preparing and implementing courses related to the cultivation of CT.Researchers in the field of education are aware of the importance of cultivating students’ CT in primary and secondary schools,which can not only help students use computational thinking earlier,but also better solve various problems encountered in daily learning and work.Some researchers believe that Selfregulated Learning(SRL)creates a learning environment conducive to the cultivation of CT.However,there are few empirical studies on the intersection of autonomous learning and CT at home and abroad.The only empirical studies only verify the promotion effect of text programming course of SRL on the CT ability of high school students,Few studies explore the influence of graphic programming course based on SRL on junior high school students’ CT.Therefore,the main purpose of this study is to explore the influence of SRL graphical programming course on the cultivation of junior high school students’ CT.This study adopts the methods of quasi experimental study and Investigation and research method.The author chose 128 middle school students,the pretest and posttest for non-peer control group was used.The experimental class adopts the programming course based on SRL,while the control group adopts the traditional teaching and practicing method.Through the CT ability scale,CT self-efficacy scale and one-to-one half structured interview,this paper analyzes the changes of junior high school students’CT from quantitative and qualitative data.The research questions of this study are as follows:(1)In the programming course,can the way of SRL effectively improve the CT ability of junior high school students?(2)In the programming course,is there any significant difference between the way of SRL and the traditional teaching and training methods in improving the CT ability of junior high school students?(3)In the programming course,can the way of SRL effectively improve the self-efficacy of junior high school students’ CT?(4)In the programming course,is there significant difference between the way of SRL and traditional teaching and training in improving the selfefficacy of junior high school students’ CT?Through four months of intervention teaching,the results show that:(1)there is a significant difference in CT Ability between the two classes.At the same time,the experimental class students’ CT ability has been significantly improved,although the control class students’ computational thinking ability has been improved,but the effect is not significant.(2)There are a wide gap in the selfefficacy of CT between the two classes,have a wide gap in the three way of algorithmic thinking,collaborative learning and problem solving.CT self-efficacy of students in experimental class has been valid boosted,valid boost in the two way of algorithmic thinking and problem solving.But there is unconspicuous in the other three way.Control class students’ CT self-efficacy has been boosted,but the result unconspicuous.Through the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data,this research has drawn the following conclusions:(1)In the programming course,SRL can effectively improve the CT ability of junior high school students,and there is a significant difference compared with the traditional teaching method.(2)In the programming course,the way of SRL can effectively improve junior high school students’ CT self-efficacy,and there is a significant difference compared with the traditional teaching method.This research applies the teaching method of SRL to programming courses.After teaching,it is found that it has valid boost on students’ CT ability and self-efficacy.Through the research,we also get the following two enlightenments:(1)SRL is one of useful teaching methods for the promotion of students’ CT;(2)the importance of graphical programming tools to the promotion of students’ CT.This research brings new teaching methods and ideas for students’ CT training,and provides valuable reference for programming education.It offers new teaching means and ideas to the fostering of CT for students,and offers a worthy reference for programming education.
