The essence of metaphor is to understand strange and abstract things with the help of familiar and concrete things.There are a lot of metaphors in educational practice and texts,but they are often ignored by teachers and students.In fact,metaphor is of great value in improving teaching effect,cultivating students’ core quality and implementing the fundamental task of cultivating morality and human beings.In order to re-understand metaphor and better use metaphor,this paper makes a systematic study,specifically as follows:Chapter One,metaphor and its unique value in high school ideological and political lessons.At present,the study of metaphor has crossed the fields of linguistics,philosophy and so on,and more attention is paid to the application of metaphor in education from the perspective of pedagogy.Moreover,the application of metaphor in education has gradually expanded from language subjects to various subjects,and its application in the teaching of ideological and political theory courses is on the rise.On the basis of the research,this paper defines metaphor from three perspectives,namely rhetoric,cognition and pedagogy,and divides metaphor into six categories,namely idiom metaphor,poetic metaphor,nature metaphor,life metaphor,subject metaphor and story metaphor,and expounds the features of metaphor,such as figurative,aesthetic and open.This paper reveals its rhetorical value,cognitive value and reasoning value applied in high school ideological and political teaching.Chapter two is the analysis of metaphor in high school ideological and political textbooks.Based on the text analysis method,this paper systematically combs the metaphors in the four compulsory textbooks compiled by the high school Ideological and Political Department.The findings are as follows: first,there are a large number of metaphors in high school ideological and political textbooks;Secondly,the distribution of metaphor is related to the characteristics of high school ideological and political textbooks.Third,different types of metaphor have their own unique value of existence.The third chapter,metaphor in high school ideological and political teaching application status.This paper investigates the application of metaphor in high school ideological and political teaching by means of a questionnaire.The results show that metaphor exists widely in high school ideological and political teaching practice,but most of them are not systematic;High school ideological and political course teachers have a positive attitude towards the application of metaphor in teaching,but the application ability is still insufficient.The fourth chapter,metaphor in high school ideological and political teaching strategy.Based on the characteristics of metaphor and the results of investigation and research,this paper puts forward the principles of metaphor application,including based on similarity,expanding new knowledge,coming from life,returning to reality,grasping limits,avoiding randomness,etc.Then,strategies for metaphor application are proposed,including: By strengthening self-consciousness,highlighting textbook interpretation,integrating into teaching design,and forming discourse system,the "sensitivity","effectiveness","depth" and "integrality" of metaphor application are improved from four aspects,so as to realize the transformation of metaphor from implicit to explicit.In addition,case design is attached to show the specific application of metaphor in high school ideological and political teaching.The application of metaphor in the teaching of high school ideological and political lessons is a process of using metaphor to explain reason and transforming "metaphor" into "simile" to better explain the deep,transparent and vivid truth.It is hoped that this study can help front-line teachers have a new cognition of metaphor and provide some new ideas for the application of metaphor.
