Cultivating students’ key competences adapts to the development of education and meets the needs of the society.Intuitive imagination is one of the six key competences in high school mathematics.How to cultivate intuitive imagination is an issue worth considering for high school mathematics teachers.This article conducts research on intuitive imagination,mainly focusing on the following two aspects:(1)what is the current situation of students’ intuitive imagination;(2)what factors affect students’ intuitive imagination.Firstly,based on the existing theories and research results,this article defines the concept of intuitive imagination,constructs an evaluation framework for intuitive imagination competence,and then develops an intuitive imagination test to measure more than 200 high school students in Yangming Middle School,Shaoxing City.In addition,through the further analysis of questionnaire data,four factors affecting students’ intuitive imagination were identified,and the relationship between these four factors and the intuitive imagination test was studied.After analysis,all of them have good reliability and validity.Through data analysis,the following findings were made:From the perspective of the Visual Imagination Scale and the Visual Imagination Test,it can be seen that(1)Differences are observed in learning attitudes,learning initiative,teacher factors,average scores of the Visual Imagination Scale,and scores of the Visual Imagination Test,while there is no significant difference in learning habits;(2)There is no significant difference in learning habits and teacher factors among students in different grades,but there is a significant difference in learning attitude,learning initiative,and the mean value of the intuitive imagination scale;(3)There is a certain correlation between the scores of the intuitive imagination test and learning attitude and learning initiative,but it belongs to a low degree of correlation.The correlation between the scores of the intuitive imagination test and learning habits and teacher factors does not reach a significant level.Combined with teacher interviews,this study suggests that:(1)Active learning and active use of intuitive imagination play an important role in cultivating intuitive imagination competence;(2)The use of mathematical software without careful design is an important factor that restricts the cultivation of students’ intuitive imagination competence;(3)Insufficient understanding of intuitive imagination of teachers affects the cultivation of students’ intuitive imagination;(4)The cultivation of intuitive imagination competence in the second stage of high school cannot rely solely on doing more math exercises;(5)The cultivation of intuitive imagination competence for second year high school students should focus on cultivating their interest in learning and raising their awareness of using intuitive imagination.Finally,based on the research findings,this article puts forward targeted teaching suggestions and provides examples.
