Students’ academic literacy is a key indicator to measure the fairness of educational results and the quality of education. The PISA 2018 results show that the four provinces(cities)in eastern China(Beijing,Shanghai,Jiangsu and Zhejiang)as a whole, students’ reading, mathematics and science scores all rank the first of the world.Admittedly, the reasons for the remarkable achievements of China in the quality of basic education in the world are systematic, but as the basic education of China enters a new stage of "connotation development",the focus of school governance begins to turn to the "soft environment" such as school concept and school climate.Previous studies have found that school atmosphere is an important driving force and guarantee to improve the quality of education in basic education. However,at present, there are still outstanding problems in domestic research on school climate, such as the lack of systematic framework, the lack of research or controversy on some important dimensions, the relatively single measurement subject, and the lack of empirical research on the relationship between school climate and students’ academic literacy. Therefore, exploring the impact of school climate on students’ academic literacy has strong theoretical and practical significance for the existing research in China.Based on social cognitive theory, ecosystem theory and stage-environment matching theory, this paper uses PISA 2018 data to conduct quantitative research and international comparative research, comprehensively analyzes the school climate in four provinces and cities in China, and explores the potential relationship between school climate and students’ academic literacy, with a view to providing reference for improving school climate governance. On the basis of the existing research, this paper explores the impact of its dimensions on students’ academic literacy from the four areas of school climate security, teaching and learning, school community, and institutional environment. The findings of this study are as follows: first,in the field of security: being bullied can’t significantly predict students’ academic literacy, the school discipline climate significantly positively predicts students’ academic literacy, and the headmaster’s perceived bad behavior of students has a significant negative predictive effect on students’ academic literacy. The second is the field of teaching and learning: teachers’ teaching support behavior and teaching methods that encourage students to participate in reading have a significant positive impact on students’ academic literacy;Teachers’ enthusiasm and adaptive teaching methods have no significant impact on students’ academic literacy; The teacher-directed teaching method has a significant negative impact on the students’ reading achievement;Teachers’ negative behaviors perceived by principals have a positive predictive effect on students’ academic attainment.Third, the field of school community: the competitive learning climate perceived by students can significantly positively predict students’ academic literacy, while the highly cooperative learning climate of students can negatively predict students’ academic literacy; The students’ sense of school belonging is generally poor, but it has no significant impact on students’ academic literacy;Home-school cooperation can significantly and positively affect students’ academic literacy, but the level and level of home-school cooperation are low.Fourth,in the field of institutional environment: the shortage of school material resources is low and has no significant impact on students’ academic literacy, while the shortage of educational staff is high and has a significant negative impact on students’ academic literacy.Based on the above conclusions, this article proposes the following suggestions: Pay attention to campus bullying and student misbehavior issues, and create a safe school atmosphere;Improve teachers’ teaching methods, reexamine teachers’ negative behaviors, and provide a positive teaching and learning atmosphere;Effectively carry out cooperative learning, optimize home-school cooperation methods, and create a good school community atmosphere;Increase investment in teacher allocation and provide a good resource environment.
