The college entrance examination system is a basic and important education system in various countries,which is related to the common interests of candidates,society and the country.The education circles in various countries are making efforts to improve the existing college entrance examination system.China and Japan belong to the Confucian cultural circle and are neighboring countries.They have had close contacts since ancient times,and the two countries have many similarities.This thesis takes the newly implemented college entrance examination system in China and Japan as the research object.By analyzing and comparing the similarities and differences between the two systems,it answers whether the unified examination system is necessary,and learns from the relevant experience of the Japanese system to improve China’s college entrance examination system and the development of overseas enrollment.The research uses the literature research method,comparative research method and historical research method,in which the comparative research method is the main method,and follows the logical thinking of “topic description,history and current situation analysis,system comparison,obtaining enlightenment”.Firstly,the historical research method is used to analyze the historical context of the college entrance examination system in China and Japan;secondly,the new reformed systems of the two countries are sorted out;thirdly,using the comparative research method,this thesis compares the reform background,management system,examination system and admission system of college entrance examination system between China and Japan;finally,some enlightenment are drawn from the comparison.The main conclusions are as follows: First,through the comparison of college admission systems between China and Japan,it can be found that in the context of the new system,the similarities are that the college admission system is a key topic of the two countries,and the unified examination competition is fierce,so both countries realize the problems of the system and propose reform measures.The difference lies in the specific manifestations of competition and the results of reforms.In terms of management system,the same point is to implement the unified examination system.The difference is the level of examination organization and the main body of educational examination legislation.In terms of the examination system,the similarities are that they have implemented the subject selection system,and the direction of English reform is consistent.The differences are reflected in the unified examination subject setting,examination form,college autonomy,score calculation method and candidates’ examination opportunities.In terms of the admission system,the same point is that they all have multiple admission methods.The difference is the diversity of admission and the concept of voluntary filling.Second,the reasons for the similarities and differences between the systems of the two countries are mainly due to the influence of the two countries’ educational systems,educational goals,higher education development levels,political systems,economic systems,cultural systems,as well as land area and population.Third,the study believes that the unified examination cannot be cancelled at the current stage,and the adoption of the unified examination is an indispensable means of selecting talents in China.Fourth,it is suggested to ensure that the admissions system is fair,scientific and efficient,and that the autonomy of colleges and universities should be suitable for their own national conditions,and foreign practices should not be copied.In addition,it is recommended to give students more choices,which can further refine the examination subjects and methods,and promote cooperation and understanding between high schools,universities,and society.When recruiting Japanese international students at the undergraduate level,it is necessary to maintain a variety of standards,and pay more attention to the language expression ability and professional matching degree.
