| In the "big science era",international scientific research cooperation is becoming more and more common.Through international scientific research cooperation,the scientific research resources of various cooperative subjects are shared,the scientific research capabilities of weaker scientific research subjects are strengthened,and the stronger scientific research subjects further strengthen their own capabilities.Different scientific research subjects have different degrees of contribution in international scientific research cooperation,reflecting their different leading positions and leading capabilities in international exchanges and cooperation.A comparative study of the international scientific research cooperation and the dominant development trend and discipline layout characteristics of top universities in China and the United States,in order to provide reference for Chinese universities to promote the construction of first-class universities and first-class disciplines.Based on the perspective of international cooperation,the research selects six top universities in China and the United States as the research objects,and uses scientometrics theories.The research uses classic indicators such as international collaboration productivity 、 international collaboration rate 、 leading papers 、 and leading rate,and constructs composite indicators such as USA publication gap、China publication gap、USA Times Cited Ratio、USA Citation Impact Ratio、China Times Cited Ratio 、 China Citation Impact Ratio 、 absolute discipline value and relative discipline value of scientific research subjects.The research compares and analyzes the development trend of the number and quality of international cooperative papers and leading papers and the ESI discipline layout of top universities in China and the United States from 2011 to 2020.The research analyzes the international collaboration productivity、leading papers、international collaboration rate、leading rate、times cited、citation impact、citation impact ratio and other indicators of the first-class universities in China and the United States,and identifies the development differences and changing characteristics of the international cooperation and dominance of top universities in China and the United States.At the same time,using the circular layout of ESI disciplines,excavate the absolutely dominant disciplines and dominant disciplines of international cooperation and dominance under various indicators,and summarize the ESI discipline layout characteristics of Chinese and American universities in terms of the quantity and quality of international cooperation papers and leading papers.Advise Chinese universities on the problems existing in international cooperation and dominance development and ESI discipline layout.Studies have shown that the international scientific research cooperation of China’s top universities is generally catching up,and the gap between the number and quality of cooperation with American universities is gradually narrowing.Chinese universities already have a relatively good leading position in the quantitative dimension of the dominance of international cooperation,and have gradually surpassed the third-ranked universities in the United States in the overall quality of leading papers,but there is a gap between Chinese universities and American universities in the average quality of papers.There are big differences in the layout of dominant disciplines in the international cooperation between top universities in China and the United States.Regardless of quantity or quality,the coverage and prominence of the advantages of American universities’ international cooperation disciplines are more significant than those of Chinese universities.In the quantitative dimension of the leading papers of the discipline,the performance of Chinese universities is better than the performance in the quantitative dimension of international cooperation.However,in terms of quality,there is a big gap between Chinese universities and American universities.In a period of time,Chinese universities will be in a state of catching up.In the future,Chinese universities should increase the degree of internationalization of scientific research,strengthen their own leading capabilities in international cooperation,continue to maintain and strengthen their advantages in engineering,promote basic research in science,and expand international cooperation and dominance advantages through the integration of medicine and industry. |
