The Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China attaches great importance to the promotion of inquiry-based learning environment teaching. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council has issued many articles emphasizing the optimization of teaching methods and focusing on inquiry-based teaching.Combining the use of traditional and modern technical means, and attaching importance to situational teaching.Technologies such as somatosensory and virtual reality can expand our body’s perception, enhance immersion, interactivity, and embodiedness in education and teaching, and improve students’ physical participation.A new educational paradigm based on embodied cognition theory is taking shape.Under the dual background of the transformation of science education paradigm and the deep integration of education informatization and education and teaching, this research is based on the reflection on the traditional teaching methods of school education, the demands of the transformation of education and teaching methods.Besides,it focuses on the "design and development of the outdoor virtual inquiry learning environment in middle schools".This scientific problem aims to make up for the shortcomings of junior high school students’ inability to participate in the exploration of diverse outdoor biology, and deeply reflect the educational value of virtual reality technology, thereby improving the inquiry thinking ability and scientific literacy of middle school students.First, this research uses the theoretical model construction method to analyze the core connotation and development of embodied cognition theory, and explores the characteristics and models of the inquiry learning environment(EILE)based on embodied cognition;then, combined with the immersiveness of virtual reality technology,Interactive and imaginative features, this research uses a structured system development method to design and develop an Exploratory Learning System(EILS)based on embodied cognition;finally, this research uses questionnaire survey method and interview method to develop this research EILS conducts learning experience analysis research. The main results of the research are as follows:(1)Exploring the core elements of the learning environment are context, tasks, interaction and feedback. The characteristics of EILE include interesting context, high degree of simulation, strong instructional design, support for social interaction and instant feedback evaluation;(2)Constructed an EILE hierarchical tower model including embodied interaction layer, experience interaction layer and fusion innovation layer, and determined the design principles of EILS such as "content consistency","visualization and interactivity","object mapping and learning socialization"(3)Use unity3 D and other software to develop EILS cases with embodied interactive experience;(4)Choose seventh-grade students to experience the EILS system, and analyze and study the application effects of EILS.
