| The continuous deepening of the reform of educational evaluation accelerates the pace of higher education stepping into a new era of educational evaluation.On October 13,2020,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China(CPC)and the State Council issued the guideline for Deepening Education Evaluation Reform in a New Era.This guideline makes deepening education evaluation reform an important mission in the development of higher education.This proves that teacher evaluation reform is urgent and necessary.Student evaluations as an integral part of teacher evaluation,both the endogenous value and the exogenous performance of its quality influence the integrated development of stakeholders.It is particularly manifested in the improvement of teachers’ teaching quality and the development of students’ learning ability.This assessment is based on the entry point of "student evaluation" and "quality" in higher education institutions.In-depth study of the operational quality of student assessment in three higher education institutions,University H,University B,and University H2.This assessment uses questionnaires,interviews and case studies to explore the four key components of student evaluation in higher education institutions from the student perspective,the teacher perspective and the teaching administrator perspective.The four components are students’ cognitive attitudes and behavioral choices,the design of the evaluation system,the implementation process,and the results of the evaluation.It is found that there are problems in the practice of student evaluation,such as the deviation of the role of the subject and weak awareness,the solidification of the content of the evaluation system and weak scientificity,the dislocation of the management of the evaluation organization and poor flexibility,and the "inflation" of the evaluation results and low validity.Tracing the root of the problem,The problem arises from the relationship between the conceptual,institutional,organizational and application dimensions of student evaluation.Based on the actual dilemmas and deep-rooted causes of the quality of student evaluation,this assessment concludes that the ideal state of student evaluation is one in which both foresight and democracy are important,scientificity and comprehensiveness of student evaluation are balanced,rigidity and flexibility of student evaluation are compatible,and effectiveness and objectivity of student evaluation coexist.Based on this study,we propose strategies to implement the concept of "student-centered" student assessment,improve and perfect the student system,optimize the organization and process,and strengthen the management and application of results.It is all in keeping with the theme of "high quality" in tertiary Education today and for a long time to come.The results show that even though student assessment has a hundred-year history of development.However,the process of "settling in" and "interfacing" in our higher education institutions for decades still highlights various problems and limits the practical effectiveness.The overall quality of student assessment needs to be improved.This means that subsequent development requires both subjective "objectivity support" on the part of stakeholders and objective "great proficiency" at all levels. |
