We are in the background of the era of knowledge economy and the deepening of new curriculum reform.The national "14th Five-Year Plan" proposed the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education,strengthening the country through talents and innovation-driven.Moreover,the plan proposed to implement core literacy and subject core literacy.This must be pointed to the development of students’ higher-order thinking.Therefore,it is one of the important tasks of current middle school geography teaching to cultivate students with a series of abilities such as innovation ability,decision-making ability,and critical thinking ability centered on higher-order thinking ability.It is also one of the important issues that teachers must explore and practice under the background of the knowledge economy era.At present,what are the footholds of higher-order thinking training strategies and methods,and how to integrate them into education and teaching are still difficult points in higher-order thinking research.This is for further research.Therefore,this paper starts from the activity system of geography textbooks,and explores its functions and strategies in the cultivation of higher-order thinking.The author comprehensively used the basic theories and methods of pedagogy,educational psychology and educational measurement to compile the survey questionnaire of "higher-order thinking tendency of students ".And the author analyzed the internal logical relationship between higher-order thinking and the activity system of geography textbooks from the perspectives of theory and practice.The author explored and summarized the characteristics of the teaching material activity system of the PEP edition of Geography(optional compulsory 1).Different types of activities have different levels of goals.Teachers give full play to the function of the activity system,which is conducive to cultivating students’ higher-order thinking in an all-round way.It can help students make full use of geographic information technology,geographic charts and other geographic tools to analyze real natural phenomena,natural processes and their impact on human activities.It can also help students to explain the relationship between the natural environment and human activities using the relevant principles and laws of physical geography.And students propose solutions and solve problems for geographic problems.In addition,the author conducted a related survey on the activity system teaching of geography textbooks directed to higher-order thinking by teachers and students.Through the questionnaire survey,the author found that the students’ evaluation thinking and innovative thinking still need to be improved.And most geography teachers had the awareness of cultivating students’ higher-order thinking in the process of designing and using the activity system of geography textbooks.They implemented the cultivation of higher order thinking.However,in the process of implementation,the cultivation of innovative thinking by some teachers was weaker than the cultivation of evaluation thinking and analytical thinking.Teachers mainly focused on teacher evaluation and summative evaluation in the teaching process,and ignored process evaluation and diversified evaluation.Some teachers lacked the time and energy to focus on the cultivation of higher-order thinking.Finally,they lacked theoretical guidance and specific operational methods.Therefore,the author took the activity system of geography textbooks as the foothold for the cultivation of higher-order thinking,and conducted research on the teaching strategies of the activity system of geography textbooks.Based on the characteristics of the activity system of geography textbooks and the results of related questionnaires,the author proposed a teaching strategy for the activity system of geography textbooks for higher-order thinking.Moreover,the author designed teaching paths of different types of activity systems to cultivate students’ higher-order thinking.She carried out teaching implementation by taking the section "Influence of pressure and wind belts on its climate" and "The formation process of Nantai Island and Zhongzhou Island".The researchers concluded that the overall design and teaching implementation of different teaching material activity systems can well mobilize students to analyze,evaluate and form comprehensive thinking.Ultimately,it promoted the development of students’ higher-order thinking such as analysis,evaluation,and synthesis,and achieves certain results.The research provided reference for the teaching design of front-line teachers.
