Research On The Development Of American Women’s Volleyball Professional Events

With the rise of professional volleyball,high-level professional women’s volleyball events have been launched in many countries.In this context,the U.S.women’s professional volleyball events,which have experienced many failed attempts,and started its fourth attempt in 2021.The study of women’s professional volleyball tournaments in the United States,a developed country with professional sports,will not only provide an overview of the development of women’s volleyball and the operation mechanism of professional sports events in the United States,but also provide an in-depth understanding of the connotation and logic of professional sports and provide intellectual support for the development of professional sports and professional sports events.This paper uses the literature method and expert interview method to sort out the development history of women’s volleyball professional events in the United States,analyze the development dilemmas encountered in the process of running the events,probe the development dynamics of women’s volleyball professional events in the United States,explore the conditions required for women’s volleyball professional events in the United States,and summarize the inspiration for the development of women’s volleyball professional events in the United States.Through the study,the following research conclusions are drawn:(1)The development of women’s professional volleyball events in the U.S.has gone through four stages: The Major League Volleyball stage;The National Volleyball Association stage;The United States Professional Volleyball stage;The Athletes Unlimited Volleyball League stage.(2)The development of women’s professional volleyball events in the U.S.is driven by: the favorable sports environment in the United States;the professionalization trend of volleyball;the vision of the American Volleyball Association and stakeholders;and the demands of professional women’s volleyball players in the United States.(3)The difficulties encountered in the development of women’s professional volleyball events in the U.S.include: the stereotypes of volleyball as a “school sport” and a “women’s sport”;the marginalization of volleyball in the U.S.sports culture;the media broadcast dilemma of volleyball;the low attention of volleyball fans;and the intense competitive environment in the American professional sports leagues.(4)The following conditions are necessary for the development of professional women’s volleyball in the United States: a strong base of volleyball players;the need to attract enough fans;the need to further align volleyball with the American sports aesthetic;and the need for a stable source of media coverage and sponsorship.(5)The following inspirations are drawn from the development history of women’s volleyball professional events in the United States: to correctly understand the development law of professional sports and follow the development law of professional sports;the development of professional sports events is tortuous,and the foundation of the development of professional sports events should be firmly established;the development of professional sports should choose a development path suitable for the national conditions;the development of professional sports should pay attention to innovation and breakthrough.
