High School Geography "Problem Study" Column Cultivates Strategies For Students’ Higherorder Thinking Research

Nowadays,China has entered a stage of high-quality development,and the demand for talents is increasingly closer to the direction of high-quality talents.High-quality talents should not only have the ability to acquire information,but more importantly,they should have strict logical thinking and the ability to convert information into usable knowledge.In recent years,with the reform of the new college entrance examination,the proposition direction of the geography college entrance examination question has gradually changed from the examination of students’ knowledge reserve to the examination of students’ comprehensive ability and thinking ability.This objectively requires strategic changes in the way of education to increase the cultivation of students’ high-level thinking.At present,many experts and scholars have studied the cultivation of higher-order thinking,but there are few researches that integrate the cultivation of higher-order thinking with the teaching of geography.As an important content of senior high school geography textbooks,"Problem Study" column can help students form diversified thinking around chapter knowledge,which plays an important role in promoting the development of students’ higher-order thinking.This paper is based on constructivism learning theory,Bloom’s cognitive goal classification theory and advanced learning theory on the basis of a large number of domestic and foreign literature on advanced thinking and "Problem Study" column.By selecting the students and geography teachers in Anhui,Henan,Jiangsu and other provinces that have implemented the new college entrance examination as the survey objects and designing the questionnaire,the teaching status of "Question research" column,the development level of students’ higher-order thinking,and the cognition and cultivation views of geography teachers on higher-order thinking were investigated.In order to understand the current situation and existing problems in the "Problem Study" column of higher order thinking training.Through the analysis of students’ questionnaires and teachers’ questionnaires,it is found that there are the following problems in the training of students’ higher-order thinking in the program of "Problem Study" : first,students’ thinking needs to be improved,and the performance of evaluative and creative thinking is weak;Second,when students study the column of "Problem Study",their thinking is rigid and they lack of autonomy.Thirdly,teachers’ understanding of "Problem Study" column and higher-order thinking needs to be deepened;Fourth,the teaching frequency of "Problem Study" column is low and the mode is traditional,which is difficult to inspire students’ thinking.Fifthly,teachers’ evaluation of students’ learning results in the column of "Problem Study" needs to be improved.According to the problems existing in the investigation of the status quo,the teaching principles of cultivating students’ higher order thinking in the column of "Problem Study" are put forward: the principles of hierarchy,subjectivity and openness.The practical teaching strategies are discussed as follows: first,to create a learning environment of "Problem Study" and an atmosphere of thinking development;Second,clarify the content of "Problem Study" and change the knowledge carrier into the thinking carrier;Thirdly,strengthen the knowledge base of "Problem Study" and enhance students’ thinking level;Fourth,design the question chain of "Problem Study" and build the frame of thinking activity;Fifth,carry out practice activities of "Problem Study" to internalize students’ high-level thinking;Sixth,pay attention to the evaluation method of "Problem Study",encourage students to think and innovate.Finally,based on the above principles and strategies,this paper selects the column "Problem Study" in Chapter 5 of compulsory One of High School Geography Teaching Edition and adapates it to "How to make Zhengzhou no longer look at the Sea" for case design based on the actual situation of the school.In order to provide some reference for front-line geography teachers to effectively use "Problem Study" column to train students’ advanced thinking.In this paper,there is some innovation in the research perspective.From the teaching perspective of "Problem Study" column,it discusses the cultivation of students’ high-level thinking and tries to put forward practical teaching principles and strategies.On the one hand,it can provide new teaching ideas for the column of "Problem Study",on the other hand,it also realizes the requirements of the new curriculum standard for teachers to strengthen students’ thinking training in geographical situations.There are obvious similarities between the teaching of "Problem Study" column and the cultivation of higher-order thinking,which will help teachers to reflect on the problems existing in the column teaching and optimize classroom teaching,help students develop higher-order thinking,and promote the formation of the core quality of geography discipline.
