Abstract/Summary:
It takes ten years to grow a tree and a hundred years to nurture a man.Teachers are the inheritors and transmitters of human cultural and scientific knowledge, the developers of students’ intelligence and the shapers of their personalities, and play an extremely important role in the development of students. The rapid reform and development of education in China today has brought opportunities for teachers’ development, but also constant pressure and challenges. With the promulgation of national policies and the development of society, people are increasingly aware of the importance of physical education, their understanding of physical education is deepening and the status of physical education teachers is steadily improving.Physical education teachers are the implementers and enforcers of school physical education policies and have the important task of developing school physical education and promoting the development of healthy habits among students. At the same time,PE teachers must strengthen their own professional development and must not remain stagnant. In this age of information technology, the public has more and more channels to access physical education knowledge resources, which naturally puts higher standards and requirements on physical education teachers, and it is even more important for physical education teachers to keep up with the times, improve their professionalism and pursue higher levels of personal excellence. At present, many studies at home and abroad have explored the influence of secondary school physical education teachers’ perceptions of social support,self-efficacy and job satisfaction on the quality of their work and teaching effectiveness, but these studies have often been conducted in a single dimension or between two dimensions, lacking an in-depth investigation of the complex relationship between these three. This study aims to provide theoretical and empirical support for improving the professional development of secondary school physical education teachers by comprehensively analysing the differences in the various influencing factors of social support,self-efficacy and job satisfaction and the complex relationships among them,so as to strengthen the professional capacity of secondary school physical education teachers and promote the development of school physical education. This paper mainly adopts the literature method and questionnaire survey method, based on reviewing a large amount of relevant literature, citing the Apprehension Social Support Scale, the Teacher Teaching Efficacy Scale and the Job Satisfaction Scale as research tools, and conducting a survey on 357 secondary school physical education teachers in Henan Province, and drawing the following conclusions through research and analysis:(1)Secondary school PE teachers in Henan Province generally have a bachelor’s degree, private secondary school PE teachers are slightly higher than public secondary schools, and there is a lack of preparation. The majority of PE teachers in the team are young and enthusiastic about teaching, but their teaching experience is lacking and they need the leadership and guidance of veteran teachers.(2)Secondary school PE teachers differed significantly across gender, age group, marital status, education, job title, teaching location and salary income variables, with higher levels of comprehension social support and relatively stable friend support dimensions, but uneven performance in family support and other support scores.(3)Age,gender,job title, income level and establishment status all influence secondary school PE teachers’ self-efficacy.The older and more experienced the teacher, the higher the self-efficacy,and the female teacher had a slightly lower self-efficacy.Teachers with higher job titles and income levels had higher levels of self-efficacy.(4)Factors such as age, length of teaching experience and gender affect PE teachers’ satisfaction with their jobs.Teachers with longer teaching experience are more likely to be more satisfied with their jobs;female teachers may be less satisfied with their jobs due to the greater challenges and stresses of teaching;and teachers with higher titles, relatively higher incomes and stability are relatively more satisfied with their jobs.(5)Self-efficacy partially mediates the relationship between perceived social support and job satisfaction, and there is a positive relationship between secondary PE teachers’ perceived level of social support and job satisfaction.
