| This study mainly explores the relationship between health information avoidance and intergenerational relationships among rural elderly people through questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews.First of all, this study investigated the situation of intergenerational relations in village Yijiahe(hereinafter referred to as "Y Village")of Jiangxi Province through the intergenerational solidarity conflict theory, and classified the intergenerational relations of the elderly families in village Y through the method of sub category analysis, and concluded that the types of intergenerational relations are the following three types, namely, close type, far but relatively close type, and near but intermittent type.Among the three types of intergenerational relationships, the tight intergenerational relationship represents the most intimate intergenerational relationship, followed by the far but closer type and the near but intermittent type. The intergenerational connections, intergenerational support, intergenerational emotions, and intergenerational consistency of close intergenerational relationships are better than those of far but close and close but intergenerational relationships, while the conflicts and contradictions between generations are less than those of these two types of intergenerational relationships. In addition, this article explores the current situation of health information avoidance among the elderly population in Y Village,Jiangxi Province, and finds the impact of different types of intergenerational relationships on health information avoidance among the elderly through regression analysis. The results are as follows: the intimacy level of intergenerational relationships is related to "I will chat with my children about health information" and "I am willing to read health information provided by my children" ’I would rather not know the health information provided by my children’ and ’I always avoid discussing the health information provided by my children with others’ have a positive and significant impact, that is,when intergenerational relationships become closer, rural elderly people are more willing to communicate health information with their children, adopt a positive attitude to face the health information provided by their children, and are more willing to share health information with others.’.In addition, there is no significant impact of health information on "I will avoid communicating or ignoring health information provided by my children" and "I generally do not adopt health related information when my children provide it to me".Finally, factor analysis was conducted on health information avoidance, extracting factor f1.Regression analysis was performed on this factor and the type of intergenerational relationship. It was found that there is a positive relationship between intergenerational relationships from intimacy to alienation and health information avoidance. That is,the closer the intergenerational relationship, the lower the degree of health information avoidance in elderly people. |
