| From "Li Ziqi","Hua Nong Brothers" to "Zhang Classmate",many rural youth have quickly become popular on the internet through short video practice,not only promoting the leap of their own social class,but also promoting activities such as rural tourism and poverty alleviation.The new media represented by short videos has broken the previous communication technology bias based on time and space,and shifted towards the connection between people.In the process of continuous transformation of strong and weak relationships,it brings more possibilities for rural youth to be born based on connection,which helps to construct social capital.Based on this,this study takes rural youth as the research object,and explores the short video practice and social capital construction of rural youth through in-depth interviews,participatory observation and other research methods,in order to provide a new perspective for the study of media practice and social capital construction.Research has found that rural youth construct social capital through three short video practices:participatory practice,recorded practice,and live streaming practice.Firstly,participatory practices characterized by browsing,expressing,and commenting contain rich game styles.Rural youth with a playful mindset have gained information capital through browsing practice;The self-expression of competitive games enhances individual visibility and discourse power,accumulating emotional capital;The practice of commenting between "players" and "players" extends the network capital.Secondly,record based practices make hometown landscapes an effective symbol of value appreciation.Rural youth’s awareness of short video practice is a prerequisite for constructing social capital;By recording the content and reasonably utilizing preexisting capital to construct post existing capital,it promotes the transformation of existing social capital;Platform rules,fan preferences,and self preferences are important guidelines for maintaining social capital.Thirdly,the practice of live streaming and sales is a media landscape that permeates the logic of performance.Rural youth set up a live performance stage through the layout of virtual and physical scenes,and the actors and drama troupes conspired to complete the performance of soliciting social capital.After the performance,they harvested social capital.Short video platforms provide a good field for rural youth to construct social capital,becoming an important force in realizing personal ideals and promoting rural revitalization.However,their limitations also hinder the construction of social capital.In addition,the negative impact of the process of rural youth constructing social capital through short video practice on individuals and rural cultural values cannot be ignored.Therefore,it is necessary for rural youth,short video platforms,and the state to jointly govern and guide the correct development direction of rural culture,in order to further enhance the significance of short video practice for rural youth. |
