Autism is one of the representative diseases of generalized neurodevelopmental disorders.According to the epidemiological data of autism spectrum disorders abroad, the incidence rate of autism spectrum disorders has been increasing continuously in the past 40 years. In China, autism has received widespread attention, and this special disease has become the top of various mental illnesses.Interpersonal communication disorders have always been the main feature of autism.Autism has a slow perception in interpersonal communication, making it difficult to understand the information in interpersonal communication, which often leads to misunderstandings among others and can lead to difficulties in interpersonal communication.Among the numerous methods of autism intervention, social storytelling and sandplay have received increasing attention year by year. Therefore, this study proposes to influence the cognition of children with autism through social stories, and sandplay affects children’s emotions, cognition, and other aspects. The combination of the two makes the intervention effect more significant. This study aims to improve the interpersonal communication skills of children with autism. The innovation of the study lies in the use of social stories as the starting point.Social stories can enhance the interpersonal communication awareness of autism, and use sandbox games to consolidate interpersonal skills and alleviate their negative emotions. The researchers conducted nearly 4 months of rehabilitation and teaching on a student with mild autism at the Jiangjin Xiangyang Children’s Development Center in Chongqing.Researchers use sandbox games and social stories as their main therapies.Social stories are presented every three weeks, and students have about 10 minutes of social story intervention time and about 30 minutes of sandbox game creation time throughout the class. This study adopts a single subject experimental design commonly used in special education, and collects relevant data through methods such as participatory observation and interview. This study is divided into three stages: baseline period, intervention expectation period, and maintenance period. The actual target behaviors are "greeting behavior","helping behavior","sharing behavior",and "polite language behavior".After the intervention, visual analysis and C statistical analysis were used to programmatically quantify and analyze multiple collected data.Through scale measurement and related data research structures,it is shown that the combination of social stories and sandplay has certain intervention effects. The research subjects are receiving increasing attention at the Xiangyang Children’s Development Center, and their interpersonal communication problems and loneliness are reduced.Through data processing and analyzing the behavioral changes of the research subjects before and after, the following conclusions were drawn:1.The effectiveness of social story and sandplay intervention is significant, which can improve interpersonal communication skills for autism;2.The sandbox theme and social stories used for autism should be sustainable;3.Guiding sand tables are more suitable for intervention in children with autism in the early and middle stages, and are more suitable for combining with social stories.
