Autism spectrum disorder(ASD)is a developmental disorder characterized by stereotypical behavior and social problems.Occupational therapy is one of the most common interventions for children with ASD,with the ultimate goal of promoting healthy development and a better life. This paper was based on the ecological theory and guided by the dominant perspective theory.According to the assessment of autistic children, the author selected their advantages and interesting homework activities(painting, handwork, calligraphy)for intervention. This paper aimed to explore the effect of occupational therapy guided by ecological theory on the individual-environment development of children with ASD,and to provide practical basis for future research. In this study,a pupil with autism spectrum disorder(ASD)in grade 3 was selected as the intervention object through case study. The study adopted a single subject study design, and collected data comprehensively through scales, interviews and observation records. The purpose of this study was to study the therapeutic effect of art work. The results show that:(1)Occupational therapy improved basic abilities of autistic children, including perception and movement, language and communication, social emotion and cognitive ability.(2)Occupational therapy improved the initiative and responsive communication of autistic children. It improved the ability to participate in the work.(3)Occupational therapy promoted the positive development of behavior of autism spectrum disorder. These include a reduction in repetitive language, aggressive behavior, and emotional behavior.(4)Occupational therapy increased the social communication and communication of autistic primary school students. It promoted autism adaptation and integration in schools and improved their quality of life.(5)Occupational therapy promoted positive interaction between autistic children and other surrounding ecosystems(family and community). It expanded the circle of autism.ASD had more meaningful life experiences. It can be seen that the ecologically-oriented occupational therapy in this study has a good intervention effect. It not only promoted the development of basic abilities of individuals with ASD,but also had a positive impact on other environments to varying degrees. This study had good ecological validity.
