Since the reform and opening up,China’s higher education has developed rapidly,and the combination of bachelor’s degree and undergraduate graduation thesis has made outstanding achievements in the field of undergraduate education.As the gatekeeper of the quality of undergraduate education in China,the undergraduate graduation thesis has great significance for the cultivation of undergraduate students in China and has a unique value position in the entire undergraduate stage.However,with the popularization of higher education,the problem of undergraduate graduation thesis has gradually emerged,which is reflected in the fact that China’s undergraduate graduation thesis can not fully adapt to the current social situation,especially the convening of the 2021 Vocational Undergraduate Education Conference,the national leadership attaches great importance to vocational undergraduate education,in this context,China urgently needs to carry out undergraduate graduation thesis reform.In 2020,the General Office of the Ministry of Education of China issued the "Draft Academic Degree Law of the People’s Republic of China(Draft for Comment)",which became an important opportunity for the transformation of undergraduate graduation thesis,indicating that China’s undergraduate education is about to enter a new process.First of all,the relevant concepts of undergraduate dissertations,historical institutionalist analysis methods and related theories,and the combination of historical institutionalism and bachelor’s degrees are analyzed by the theory of historical institutionalism,and the origin of degree and degree systems in the medieval period and the conditions and interconnections of bachelor’s,master’s and doctoral degrees in the medieval period are sorted out.The connotation transformation of modern degrees,the legislative level and bachelor’s degree conferment conditions in Germany,the United States,the United Kingdom,and France,and the combination of the thesis and degree abroad are analyzed.This paper studies the origin of degrees in China and the historical evolution of bachelor’s degrees under the degree system,and divides the stages of bachelor’s degree change in China into four periods: the foundation stage of the late Qing Dynasty,the development stage of the Republic of China period,the stagnation stage after the founding of New China,and the reconstruction and adjustment stage after reform and opening up.Secondly,the types of changes in the historical evolution of bachelor’s degrees in China,the benign and malignant path dependence of undergraduate dissertations,the reasons for the strengthening of path dependence and the difficulty of breakthrough,and the subjective and objective motives of undergraduate dissertation reform are analyzed.Finally,the direction of reform of China’s future undergraduate graduation thesis is proposed to improve the quality of undergraduate education.That is,to meet the needs of the people,docking foreign exchanges;improve the degree system,promote thesis reform with mandatory changes,and provide legal support for thesis reform;optimize multiple paths,change a single graduation thesis path,break through the malignant path dependence,and promote the evolution of the system;build a "propulsive" training to achieve thesis reform "learning" and "art" in parallel,taking into account academic and professional characteristics,personalized and high-quality training,improve the seriousness of academic training,and break through the malignant path dependence of thesis.Push the quality of undergraduate education on a better path. |
