The Alxa Hero Festival(AHF)is a very distinctive event that has emerged in recent years within China.Due to the limited form of organization and the special nature of activities, this event has successfully integrated the road trip with the local tourism market. It is for this reason that the impact of the AHF on residents is more direct and profound than other tourism markets.Residents’ perceptions and attitudes towards the AHF conversely influence its development. Moreover, the perceptions shape their attitudes towards the AHF.This thesis, based on the perspective of the perceptions of residents of tourist destinations, examines the perceptions and attitudes of Alxa Left Banner’s residents towards the development of the Alxa Hero Festival. This thesis refers to the DPSIR model and focuses on the perceptions and attitudes of residents towards the development of the AHF,particularly in terms of its support for local livelihoods and tourism development, and the degree of health, convenience, satisfaction, and non-destructiveness of the resources and environment. The study is conducted on residents in Alxa Left Banner,Inner Mongolia, where the AHF is held, using a questionnaire survey as the research method. The research combines theoretical study with empirical analysis, integrates theoretical insights across various interconnected fields, employing a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches for research, with a focus on quantitative analysis,to study the perceptions and attitudes of residents towards the development of the AHF.The research results indicate that: 1)Residents have a generally high level of perception towards the development of the AHF,with the highest perception towards sociocultural factors. Most people believe that the natural environment in which the AHF is held is in a good state, while perception towards the economic activities is not as significant;2)The satisfaction level of residents towards the development of the AHF is the lowest, comparatively not satisfied. However, residents have a relatively high level of optimism and support towards the tourism of the AHF;3)Different demographic characteristics of residents show certain differences in their perceptions and attitudes towards tourism ecological security;4)The perception of natural environment(ecology),economic activities(economic development and quality of life),and sociocultural factors(policies and systems)will positively affect residents’ satisfaction with the tourism development of AHF;5)The understanding of sociocultural aspects(cultural interactions)and economic actions(economic growth and living standards)will contribute to a positive outlook from residents regarding the tourism expansion of AHF;6)Recognizing economic activities(economic growth and living standards)will positively influence the residents’ backing for the tourism advancement of AHF.Therefore,in the future development of Alxa Hero Festival,we need to continue to increase policy support and government attention, strengthen the scale and investment in infrastructure construction;combine local traditional culture to create unique and distinctive tourism new models, and increase external exchanges and cooperation;always prioritize ecology and environmental protection, strictly control environmental pollution;improve the mechanism of interest linkage and distribution,so that residents can fully share in the dividends of development;boost investment in science and technology innovation, and steadfastly advance the high-quality development of self-driving tourism festival activities.
