Research On The Construction Of Family Social Support Network For Children With Intellectual Disability

The disadvantaged group of people with disabilities is very special in society,and they especially need care and attention.Intellectually disabled children are among the disadvantaged among these disadvantaged groups,and they need to arouse widespread attention from society and provide help and support.Compared with normal children,mentally handicapped children have problems that not only restrict their normal growth and life,but also bring huge economic and psychological burdens to their families.The original fragile social support network of some families is completely broken,leading to the family’s self-development.There are problems in social integration.Family members suffer from discrimination and strange eyes around them.They live under the pressure of helpless,helpless and even helpless lives,and urgently need outside support and help.As a discipline that specializes in helping disadvantaged groups solve problems and help the poor,social work adheres to the concept of "helping others to help themselves" to help families with children with intellectual disabilities.This article will focus on the construction of a family social support network for children with intellectual disabilities,clarify the current status of the family social support network,and use the method of case management to intervene and improve.Interviews and non-participatory observation methods were used to investigate the status of family social support network,and the family situation was measured by the "Social Support Rating Scale" measurement method.On the one hand,understand the status quo of the social support network,and on the other hand,understand the reasons for the fracture of the social support network.The study found that in the P family social support network,some relatives and friends support and peer support in the informal support network have been completely broken.In addition to the normal operation of community support in the official support network,social organization support and government support have shown a state of rupture to varying degrees.The existence of these problems is closely related to the internal conflicts in the family,the lack of patience of relatives and friends,the inactive social organizations,and the government’s less care for the families of mentally handicapped children.This article adopts a case management model.After gaining the trust of family members,it estimates the needs of the family,links resources and solves problems according to the order of needs.Through nearly four months of professional work,we have integrated the resources of relatives,friends,neighbors,etc.to help families build a non-supportive support network,and also integrated communities,rehabilitation institutions,self-organizations of carers of children with congenital mental retardation,social work agencies,governments and other societies.Resources help families build a formal social support network.Through interventions at different levels,the multiple problems of the family are solved: including improving the parent-child relationship of the family,easing the irrational emotions of P’s mother,being suspicious of self-organization,and distrusting the government,etc.,not only builds the family’s social support network,but also enables family members Rekindle confidence in life.The use of case management methods to intervene in the construction of a social support network for families with mentally handicapped children is not only conducive to comprehensively assessing the needs of the client,and designing comprehensive and personalized service plans for the client,but also conducive to the overall planning and coordination of various social resources.What are the problems and dilemmas in the case management method? Through reflection on the entire intervention process and method application process,social workers believe that it is necessary to always listen to the opinions of the client during the intervention process,respect the principle of client self-determination,and at the same time consider the timeliness and sequence of linking resources,so as to build a family social support network At the same time,it links more resources to the service target and provides them with more professional and comprehensive services.In short,by investigating the effect of case management intervention in the construction of a family social support network for children with intellectual disabilities,the level of family social support for service recipients has been significantly improved,and case management has also become an effective method to build a family-like social support network.Actively use the grass-roots advantages of the community to help families with children with intellectual disabilities,pay attention to the training of professional social workers and team building,and strengthen the attention and support of government departments to provide references for the construction and development of social support networks for families in similar situations in the future.
