Social Work Intervenes In The Practical Exploration Of Integrated Education For Children With Intellectual Disabilities

The concept of integrated education is the main development trend of current special education.In recent years,with the development of integrated education in China,the number of mentally disabled children who have entered ordinary schools for education has gradually increased.However,due to the limitations of intelligence,children with mental retardation face great challenges when they integrate into ordinary schools.Therefore,it is an urgent problem for social workers to consider the difficulties faced by children with mental retardation in school integration.This study first investigates the integration status of three children with intellectual disabilities attending classes in primary school H through observation method and interview method,and analyzes the main problems of integrated education of children with intellectual disabilities from the perspective of children with intellectual disabilities themselves and the various systems of their environment with the help of ecosystem theory.The main problems include:(1)classroom interference behavior in children with intellectual disabilities;(2)Interpersonal communication disorders in children with intellectual disabilities;(3)Ordinary teachers lack the corresponding educational ability.Next,social workers integrate professional social work methods and intervene in various support systems of clients to help children with intellectual disabilities solve problems encountered in school integration.First,the social worker investigated the current situation of school integration of children with intellectual disabilities in regular classes in primary school H through participatory observation and interview.According to ecosystem theory,from the various systems of the children with intellectual disabilities and their environment,the social worker analyzed the main problems in the integration education of children with intellectual disabilities.The main problems were(1)the mentally disabled students had deficiencies in behavior performance,and there were obstacles in their interpersonal communication.(2)Lack of professional teachers and lack of professional knowledge of integrated education for ordinary teachers.(3)There were risky factors in the social environment.Subsequently,the social worker comprehensively use the working methods of individual cases,groups and communities to help mentally handicapped children solve the problems encountered in school integration.On the one hand,the use of social stories,picture exchange communication systems,demonstration methods and other methods to conduct case intervention on children with mental retardation,control and reduce the frequency of classroom interference behavior of children with mental retardation,and improve the frequency of interaction with peers.On the other hand,by organizing children with intellectual disabilities and ordinary children to participate in group activities,we can eliminate the misconceptions of ordinary children and their parents about children with intellectual disabilities,create a harmonious campus integration atmosphere,and promote the common development of children with intellectual disabilities and ordinary children.At the same time,we should use the method of community work to change the factors that hinder the implementation of integrated education in the campus and community,and create a better integrated education environment,so as to promote the campus integration of children with intellectual disabilities.Finally,the author puts forward four suggestions to promote the inclusive education of children with intellectual disabilities:(1)social workers should strengthen the emotional support of clients and help them improve their social identity;(2)social workers can contribute to strengthening the school education environment and enhancing the teaching staff;(3)Social workers can actively interact with the families and communities of children with intellectual disabilities,help children with intellectual disabilities build social support systems,and build close social relationships;(4)Social workers should play an active role,strengthen the coordination of social resources,and allocate and integrate resources.
