The development of The Times cannot be separated from the reform. If the school physical education wants to conform to The Times, more in line with the students’ physical and mental development, and more efficiently complete the teaching objectives,it is inseparable from the reform of physical education curriculum.Because of its ornamental and fitness characteristics, tennis has attracted a batch of college students to participate in it,and more and more students are taking tennis courses. However, due to the difficulty in getting started in tennis and the large number of air swing exercises in the regular tennis class, students have few chances to touch the ball, which makes it difficult for them to experience the fun of tennis, resulting in the decline of students’ interest in learning tennis.Technological advancement is slow.In this case,if we want to meet students’ learning needs,we must improve the teaching means and innovate the teaching methods. This paper tries to improve the ten-step teaching method by integrating the tenstep teaching method with multi-ball training. It tries to develop a teaching method that is excellent in both the improvement of learning interest and the teaching of technical movements. This study is expected to provide theoretical content of teaching experiment and teaching design for future research on teaching reform and provide reference and suggestions for teaching reform practice. In this paper, literature, questionnaire, teaching experiment, mathematical statistics and other scientific research methods were used to carry out research. The students of two tennis elective classes of sports training major in Guangzhou Institute of Physical Education in 2019 were selected as experimental objects. The experimental group adopted the ten-step teaching method and multi-ball training, and the control group adopted the conventional tennis teaching method. The two groups were compared and analyzed. This paper discusses the differences between students’ physical quality improvement, tennis skill improvement, learning interest improvement and course teaching effect evaluation from four aspects,so as to verify the feasibility of the application of the combination of 10-step teaching method and multi-ball training in tennis elective courses, and draws the following conclusions:(1)In the aspect of tennis skill improvement, the teaching method integrating 10-step teaching method and multi-ball training effectively improves students’ ball control ability and ensures the standardization of students’ technical movements.(2)In terms of the improvement of learning interest, the teaching method integrating the ten-step teaching method and multi-ball training follows the concept of happy education, which is more conducive to stimulating students’ learning interest and creating a more pleasant teaching atmosphere for students.(3)In terms of evaluation of students’ teaching effect, the teaching method integrating 10-step teaching method and multi-ball training effectively highlights "quick and easy" and "fun",and students have a high evaluation of the teaching effect of this teaching method.(4)In terms of physical fitness improvement, the combination of 10-step teaching method and multi-ball training can improve students’ physical fitness, but the improvement is small. The following suggestions are put forward:(1)It is suggested that in the process of improving a certain teaching method, scholars should grasp the core concept before making the improvement,so as to get better teaching effect.(2)The combination of 10-step teaching method and multi-ball training is a successful case.Future scholars can also integrate the other two teaching methods to diversify tennis teaching methods and explore teaching methods more in line with students’ learning needs.(3)It is suggested that teachers should follow the principle of combining theory with practice as far as possible in PE teaching, and timely adjust teaching requirements according to the formation law of sports skills.
