Over the past 40 years of reform and opening-up,uncoordinated and unbalanced regional economic development has become the core problem that hinders the further development of our country’s economy and society. The 14 th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development and the Outline of 2035 Vision Goals of the People’s Republic of China focus on optimizing the development of urban clusters in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta,Chengdu-Chongqing,and the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. As one of the most dynamic sunrise industries, sports industry is also an important focus to promote the coordinated development of regional economy.Compared with the single-city "go it alone" sports industry development mode, the current sports industry development mode based on urban agglomeration is on the one hand more suitable for the current development trend of sports industry,on the other hand,it can promote the coordinated development of regional economy. In order to effectively study the overall coordinated development status of the sports industry in China’s five major urban agglomerations, this paper,by combing and referring to relevant literature in the past, takes the inter-city sports industry correlation network in the respective regions of China’s five major urban agglomerations as the research object, comprehensively uses literature, mathematical analysis, comparative analysis and other methods.Based on the 2020 target data and statistical data of 97 cities in the five major urban agglomerations, the gravity model was revised from the two aspects of city quality and distance between cities, and the modified gravity model was further used to measure and compare the quality of the sports industry within each city group and the closeness of the spatial correlation of the sports industry between cities within each city group. Then the social network analysis method is introduced to analyze the overall spatial network structure characteristics of the sports industry among the five major urban agglomerations. This paper aims to clarify the development level, correlation degree and network characteristics of the overall regional sports industry of the five major urban agglomerations, and at the same time to discuss the development characteristics of the five major urban agglomerations from the perspective of spatial correlation of the sports industry. The main research conclusions are as follows:First, the comprehensive quality and spatial distribution characteristics of the sports industry in China’s five major urban agglomerations all show obvious regional spatial differentiation and non-equilibrium distribution characteristics, among which the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has the highest quality, and the middle reaches of the Yangtze River urban agglomeration has the best spatial distribution characteristics.Second, the five major urban agglomerations in China have obvious differences in the quality hierarchy of sports industry. The Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration presents an olive structure, the Beijing-Tianjin Wing urban agglomeration presents a single-core driving structure with Beijing as the core, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area presents a three-core driving structure with a hierarchical structure system formed by Hong Kong,Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration presents a dual-core driving structure with Chongqing and Chengdu as the core, while the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River presents a pyramid structure.Thirdly, the sports industries in China’s five major urban agglomerations all show certain characteristics of spatial correlation, but the degree of spatial correlation of the sports industry is obviously different, showing the phenomenon of "receiving" far more than "exporting".There is an insurmountable gap between the peripheral zone and the central zone, and the problem of insufficient power source for coordinated development of the sports industry is prominent.Fourthly, the five major urban agglomerations in China except the urban agglomerations in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River all form a single or multi-center radial spatial correlation network distribution pattern. In the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, two unrelated spatial correlation networks of sports industry have been formed, with Wuhan and Changsha as the center respectively.Fifth, the sports industries in China’s five major urban agglomerations all present a "core-edge" structure, with the polarization of the strong getting stronger and the weak getting weaker. The "core-edge" structure in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is the least obvious. Finally, based on the above conclusions, this paper puts forward suggestions to further promote the coordinated development of the sports industry in China’s five major urban agglomerations.First, according to the gradient distribution of the spatial structure of the urban agglomerations, the radiation and siphon effects of the sub-central cities are used to play the role of external introduction and internal integration.Secondly, according to the characteristics of small groups within urban agglomerations, the sub-group structure with complementary functions within the network is formed.Third, optimize the environment for the development of sports industry in the five major urban agglomerations and build a solid foundation for the development of the five major urban agglomerations.Fourth, improve and innovate the system and mechanism of sports industry development in the five major urban agglomerations;Fifth, establish industry-university-research cooperation mechanism in urban agglomeration, and accelerate science and technology enabling sports. |
