Family sex education is a kind of sex education activities initiated by parents and implemented on children.Parents’ ability of sex education directly affects children’s cognition,behavior,attitude and values about sex.In China,more and more parents have realized that early family sex education is good for the growth of their children.However,"not knowing what Taoism is" and "not knowing how to teach" are the two major problems facing most parents in carrying out sex education activities now.The continuous exposure of sexual assault cases and parents’ desire for the healthy growth of their children.There is a stronger need for parents to improve their sex education skills.Therefore,it is of great significance to explore how to help parents enhance the reserve of sex knowledge and enhance the ability of sex education by using the professional service method of social work.In this study,129 families with children aged 10-12 in F community were given questionnaires to investigate and analyze the status quo of sex education ability from the perspective of parents’ acceptance of sex education and their knowledge,skills,concepts and attitudes towards sex education.Through questionnaire survey and interview,it can be concluded that parents’ insufficient ability of sex education is as follows:inconsistent concept of sex education with action,lack of sex education knowledge and skills,and single choice of sex education methods.This analysis of their needs: to get rid of the old shackles,progressive desensitization,systematic learning of sex education knowledge,flexible use of parents sex education skills and methods.Based on this,social workers used the intervention method of group work and based on the four processes of observation and learning theory to carry out the parents’ sexual education ability improvement group with the theme of "sex",and provided 8 parents with active and effective professional social work services.In practice,the four processes of observation and learning are combined with demands to set activity goals.In the process of service provision,games,videos,presentations,popular science map of physiological structure,situational simulation,lectures,role playing and other diversified forms are used to better promote the practical work of improving parents’ sex education ability.The process evaluation and the result evaluation show that the theoretical guidance is feasible,the intervention of group work has achieved some results,the parents’ sex education ability has been improved,and the social workers’ own ability needs to be improved.Therefore,the author puts forward the following suggestions: improve parents’ awareness and quality of sex education,enrich the forms of intervention,reach multi-party cooperation,and improve the professional ability of social work.This paper aims to provide reference for social work majors to improve parents’ sexual education ability through practical research.At the same time,it is also hoped that the public can put down their prejudice against sex topics and join the team of sex education as soon as possible,so as to create a good environment for the healthy growth of children.
