| On November 15,2022,the global population officially reached 8 billion. In an increasingly expanding environment, the phenomenon of population aging cannot be ignored. The deepening of population aging will not only have an impact on the number of labor forces in a country, increase the labor burden, and then affect the economic growth of a country, but also have an impact on the economic growth of neighboring countries,to produce a certain spatial effect.Fully recognizing the regional impacts of population aging on economic growth will not only be able to help a country maintain its level of economic growth in the context of changing population structure, but also be more conducive to overall economic smooth operation within the region and avoid large fluctuations. It is of great significance for all countries to move towards high-quality development goals.Using the data of China and ASEAN countries, this paper explores the impact of population aging on economic growth within China and ASEAN Free Trade Area through spatial Dobbin model. It is found that there is a significant spillover effect in the economic growth within the China and ASEAN Free Trade Area.A country’s population aging has a direct negative impact on the country’s economic growth. And the improvement of the aging level of a country has a positive effect on the economic growth of surrounding countries. The impact of labor participation rate and total population on economic development of the region is not obvious. At the same time, the increase of per capita capital level will not only significantly promote the economic growth of the region, but also have obvious positive externalities to surrounding countries. In addition, the increase in population aging rate will promote the upgrading of a country’s industrial structure and affect the country’s primary industry. From the conclusion, facing the deepening phenomenon of population aging,we should improve the labor employment environment within the China and ASEAN Free Trade Area and improve the per capita capital equipment level,so as to reduce the adverse impact of population aging on economic growth. |
