Space concept is the core of basic education and an important foundation for the development of advanced cognitive skills.Primary education is an important stage in the development of space concept.How to effectively use the existing technology to solve the current difficulties in primary school geometry teaching has become an important issue.Augmented reality(AR)technology has the characteristics of virtual-reality fusion,natural interaction,multi-sensory experience and so on.It has certain potential advantages for the development of space concept,and can effectively solve the problems such as lack of visual experience,limited teaching aids and difficult perception of plane animation.However,there are few researches on how AR technology affects the learning process and how to design AR learning situation to promote teaching.Based on this,this study aims to explore the effects of AR on the space concept,spatial self-perception and learning experience of primary school students.The research adopts the methods of literature measurement,quasi-experiment and investigation.By analyzing the dimensionality and advanced hierarchy of space concept,combining the advantages of geometry teaching content and AR technology,AR learning environment is designed to promote the development of space concept and support teaching practice.In this study,the fifth-grade students of S primary school in M County of Gansu province were selected as experimental subjects.Before and after the experiment,the test results of space concept of the experimental and control classes were collected,and the differences of space concept between the two groups were analyzed.After the experiment,the subjects and teachers were investigated with spatial selfperception questionnaire,Learning Experience Questionnaire and interview outline to test the effect of AR on the development of space concept.By comparing and analyzing the data of the two groups of subjects,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)the teaching based on AR technology and multimedia technology can improve the overall level of space concept of primary school students;but the former is more effective in the dimensions of spatial orientation,mental rotation and mental folding;(2)the teaching supported by AR technology can significantly improve primary school students’ spatial self-perception;(3)the teaching supported by AR technology can improve the learning experience of primary school students,especially in the three dimensions of investment,ability and interest.Based on the above conclusions,this study puts forward the following teaching suggestions:(1)to design unit teaching from the perspective of advanced learning is helpful to the learning process step by step;(2)to select appropriate AR learning resources,apply appropriate teaching methods and clarify the order rules in the learning process can make the learning activities supported by AR technology proceed smoothly and orderly;(3)Taking full advantage of AR technology to carry out activities such as observational learning,inquiry learning and gamification learning,which can be applied to mobile learning and informal learning to realize the extension of classroom learning.Based on this research,the future research can be carried out in the following aspects: the development of AR intelligent behavior data collection system,the educational application of AR technology in informal learning,and the research on the difference of space concept level of learners with different styles in the context of AR learning,to perfect the function of AR education software in process data collection and learning monitoring,and explore the effect of AR technology in different subjects and different learning methods. |
