As the backbone of vocational education,secondary vocational education shoulders the important task of training high quality scientific and technological innovative talents.However,because secondary vocational students have to choose their major and occupation in advance,their occupational psychological development is still in the preliminary stage of exploration,and it is urgent to improve the level of vocational maturity,so as to help them better understand themselves,make suitable career choices,and realize their ideals and values.Therefore,this study attempts to explore the development status and influencing factors of vocational maturity of secondary vocational students,aiming at discussing how to improve the level of vocational psychological development of secondary vocational students from the level of family and school.Based on the research question,this research mainly uses the content analysis and the theme analysis method.A total of 32 interviewees including 21 secondary vocational school students,5 parents of Secondary vocational school students and 6 teachers were interviewed one-on-one by objective sampling,the interviews with students mainly focus on vocational decision-making knowledge and attitude,interviews with parents focused on family environment,family capital,Parenting styles and parenting concepts,while interviews with teachers focused on school career planning education Based on the qualitative and thematic Content analysis,the text data were systematically analyzed,coded and abstracted into themes,and the following conclusions were reached:(1)The development of vocational maturity in various dimensions is uneven,and this study finds that the career maturity of secondary vocational students is mainly composed of three dimensions: career decision-making attitude,occupational decisionmaking stability and career decision-making knowledge.Among them,the attitude of professional decision-making is reflected in four aspects: career decision-making initiative,utilitarianism,tendencies and independence,and professional decision-making knowledge includes professional self-knowledge and professional world knowledge.(2)The career maturity development of secondary vocational students is a complex process of multi-factor interaction.This study finds that the career maturity of secondary vocational students is mainly affected by the internesting and network structure of personal,family,social and school factors.Secondary vocational students with active personality,high self-efficacy,positive life beliefs and self-concept,optimism,and identification with their majors are generally high in their individual career maturity and development level;Having family cultural capital,parents’ emotional and spiritual support,value guidance from significant others,spiritual encouragement,and social and cultural resources such as books,films and television are all key factors to promote the development of career maturity;Negative self-concept,low self-efficacy,lack or inadequacy of career-related psychological resources,lack of personal beliefs,inappropriate parenting styles and parenting concepts,socio-cultural prejudices,and low or even absent career education levels will hinder the development of career maturity of secondary vocational students.The study found that not all secondary vocational students have a high level of career maturity,and some students have not yet begun to carry out real career exploration due to their weak career awareness and lack of surrounding information resources,but the particularity of their learning nature urgently requires career and even life planning.Therefore,it is urgent to start from the important subjects to improve the career planning awareness and ability of secondary vocational students.This study focuses on family and school,two fields that have an important impact on all aspects of secondary vocational students,discusses how to improve the level of vocational psychological development of secondary vocational students,and puts forward further countermeasures and suggestions to solve the problem of unbalanced and insufficient development of vocational maturity of secondary vocational students. |
