With the rapid development of the information age and the spread of artificial intelligence, the importance of programming education has become more and more prominent. As a result, corresponding policy demands have been put forward for junior high school programming curriculum by government, and both primary and junior high schools have also begun to explore programming curriculum that are suitable for their own schools. How to carry out programming education more effectively in basic education in domestic has become an important issue on which many scholars and teachers are focusing.Based on the teaching characteristics of graphical programming curriculum of junior high school, this study investigated the feasibility of application of project-based teaching for graphical programming curriculum. We have explored a method for formulating project-based teaching strategies for junior high school graphical programming curriculum. Moreover,we have formulated project-based teaching strategies for junior high school graphical programming curriculum and applied them to teaching practice,in order to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of teaching strategies. This study This study aims to provide more systematic and operational project-based teaching strategies for junior high school graphical programming curriculum.Through collecting and studying literature, searching the connection between projectbased teaching and the teaching of junior high school graphical programming curriclum from a theoretical point of view. This provides theoretical support for the application of project-based teaching strategies in junior high school graphical programming curriculum. The point of scholars are integrated in order to determine element of project-based teaching strategies in junior high school graphical programming curriculum. The element include situation, objective, content, students, and assessment.A method for developing project-based teaching strategies is established by combining these five components.Student learning progress and expectations,as well as instructional problems, are investigated and analyzed.Using the basic features of project-based teaching and graphical programming curriculum,a project-based teaching strategy suitable for junior high school students is developed by combining their learning characteristics.Action research is then used to implement the new instructional strategy in the junior high school graphical programming curriculum taken by students at a school in Dongguan. Before and after the teaching practice, evaluations were conducted in three areas:programming ability, computing thinking, and learning interest. Finally, the results indicate that project-based teaching strategies of junior high school graphical programming curriculum have a positive effect on students’ programming ability, computing thinking, and learning interest.
