Environmental problems constrain human development and must be addressed for the sake of sustainable human development.Middle school students are in a critical period of fully absorbing external knowledge and establishing a view of life,world view and values,which is the best time to carry out environmental education,which can cultivate students’ environmental awareness and sense of social responsibility.Environmental education for secondary school students is one of the ways to address the root causes of environmental problems.The relationship between geography and environmental education is inseparable,and geography teaching needs to shoulder the responsibility of infiltrating environmental education.This thesis examines the environmental education content of high school geography textbooks by analyzing the High School Geography Curriculum Standards,Guidelines for Environmental Education in Primary and Secondary Schools,and Geography Textbooks.The analysis identifies environmental education content that meets the standards of both the curriculum and the guidelines,with the aim of providing improved guidance for practice and research.This thesis adopts literature analysis method,textbook analysis method,case method,questionnaire survey method and other methods to find out the current situation of environmental protection and environmental education at home and abroad through literature analysis,and clarify the research theme,method and idea through clear definition,so as to deeply explore the relevant knowledge.Based on the above analysis of the content of high school geography education,the author proposes a strategy for implementing environmental education in geography teaching:(1)Incorporate environmental education into geography classrooms by delving into environmental materials in textbooks,selecting appropriate teaching methods,emphasizing the improvement of students’ basic knowledge of environmental protection,and guiding independent exploration of environmental issues;(2)Integrate environmental education into geographic practice activities,such as outdoor field trips,mapping and analysis,and other practical activities,with an emphasis on cultivating students’ environmental protection behavior;(3)Enhance the evaluation mechanism of environmental education by developing a diversified evaluation index system,and encouraging students to engage in self-evaluation and reflection.According to the teaching strategy,the author carried out a feasible teaching case design,and took advantage of the opportunity of high school geography teaching internship to carry out teaching practice in high school,and hoped to verify the effectiveness of environmental education in geography education through the evaluation of students’ environmental education.At the same time,during the teaching implementation process,front-line teachers are invited to evaluate the implementation of the classroom.This is a way to make better classroom observations,reflect and summarize,improve teaching strategies and sort out effective geography cases.This thesis aims to provide reference for secondary school geography educators,contribute to enriching the theoretical system of environmental education cases,and provide enlightenment for the development of environmental education.
