Research On The Timeout And Effect Of Women Basketball Coaches In The 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games

There are many aspects that affect basketball games,among which the technical level of the athletes and the coaches’ field command determine the overall strength of the team,and the coaches,as the masters of the team,have good timeouts in the field command as one of the divine moves in Go.In order to study the use and effect of coaches’ timeout in high-level basketball games,157 timeouts in all 26 games of women’s basketball in Tokyo Olympics were selected for analysis and research.In this paper,literature,expert interview,video observation and mathematical statistics were used.Firstly,the time distribution and frequency of timeout use by coaches,the offensive and defensive effects of the first 3 rounds of the suspended team,and the choice of throwing the ball into the boundary after the last 2 min of timeout of the game were counted,and the data were directly presented by using scatter diagram and Sankey diagram to understand the overall timeout use by coaches of women’s basketball in this Tokyo Olympic Games;then by the following ways: comprehensive evaluation of the effect of timeout use by coaches of each country with the help of Simons index,Then,by comparing the shortterm offensive and defensive efficiency of the team after timeout with the average offensive and defensive efficiency of the team,and by examining the difference between the first-round points scored and lost before and after timeout,the coaches’ timeout use effect was analyzed;finally,it was verified whether the ball possession after timeout had an impact on the timeout effect.The purpose is to comprehensively analyze the use of timeout by high-level coaches in different countries,and to provide learning reference for the use of timeout by coaches in China.The specific results and conclusions of the study are.(1)Coaches used timeouts mainly in the second quarter 51 times(32.48%)and the fourth quarter 63 times(40.13%)in the game,with the highest frequency occurring in the last minute of the fourth quarter from the end of the game,followed by the last two minutes of the second quarter and the beginning two minutes of the fourth quarter,and coaches should reserve at least one opportunity to use timeouts in the last two minutes of the first and second half of the game.(2)France and South Korea had the highest average number of timeouts(4.34)and the United States had the lowest average number of timeouts(0.67),and the average number of timeouts was correlated with the winning percentage of the game.The number of timeouts used objectively reflects the team’s performance in the game.Therefore,how to effectively request a timeout and improve the effectiveness of the use of timeout is related to the trend of the game.(3)Statistics of 157 timeouts in 26 women’s basketball games,the frequency of scoring and conceding points in the first 3 rounds of timeouts was made into a Sankitu diagram,in which the highest percentage of scoring and conceding points(0,4),(0,2)(0,5)was observed,and coaches should observe the self-adjustment status of players on the court,and if the opponent scored in two consecutive rounds,a timeout or a substitution should be made in time,with the purpose of disrupting the opponent’s offensive rhythm and adjusting our The purpose is to disrupt the rhythm of the opponent’s offense and adjust the efficiency of our offense and defense.(4)When the game was in the last 2 min,the coaches were counted 28 times of throwing the ball into the boundary after the timeout,and 20 times of serving the ball in front of the court after the coaches’ timeout(accounting for 71%).When the game proceeded to 38:16-39:18 the timeout occurred 10 times,and the coaches chose to throw the backfield 6 times(accounting for 60%).When the game proceeded to 38:00-39:30,the use of timeout had some relative tolerance,and when the team was in the lead it should serve the backfield ball to take control from time initiative.(5)Through Simmons Index,the coaches of each country comprehensively evaluated the effect of using timeout,among which the best teams were Serbia(3.13 points),France(3.63points)and Spain(4 points),which should be combined with the video to study in detail the above three countries’ coaches’ personnel transfer and tactical arrangement after timeout.The difference test of the first score before and after the use of team timeout,Canada(p=0.02 <0.05),France(p=0.039<0.05),Serbia(p=0.03<0.05)after the use of timeout significantly improved the offensive effect;Puerto Rico(p=0.017<0.05),Australia(p=0.015<0.05),and France(p=0.004<0.05)had significantly higher defensive effectiveness after timeout use.
