As the general public’s awareness of education and the concept of legal system increases,educational discipline is getting more and more attention from all walks of life.As a means of teacher education,educational discipline can help students correct their mistakes and guide their overall healthy growth.However,teachers have been in a dilemma about the use of educational discipline in the actual educational management.What’s more,teachers are afraid to discipline and unwilling to discipline.Therefore,the use of educational discipline has become exceptionally sensitive.Teachers,as the subject of implementing educational discipline,have been the object of researchers’ attention.But student development is subject to the joint role of schools,parents,and society.Thus the responsibility of parents cannot be ignored in the educational discipline of students.In the "Rules for Educational Discipline in Primary and Secondary Schools(for Trial Implementation)",it is clear that parents should support and cooperate with educational discipline.Home and school cooperation in education and discipline is the only way to maximize the effect of education and discipline.Therefore,this thesis focuses on teachers and parents,to study the problems of educational discipline in elementary school under home-school cooperation.This study mainly uses the questionnaire method,through the previous research and the preliminary research situation,revised and compiled to form the Survey on the Situation of Educational Discipline in Primary Schools under Home-School Cooperation(Teachers’ Paper)and the Survey on the Situation of Educational Discipline in Primary Schools under Home-School Cooperation(Parents’ Paper).The questionnaire mainly contains basic information about teachers and parents,teachers’ and parents’ awareness of educational discipline,attitudes,effects,and the participation of both home and school in the survey.After the invalid data were eliminated from this survey,a total of 170 copies of the teacher paper and 425 copies of the parent paper were collected.This study also used the interview method to conduct face-to-face interviews with 7 teachers and telephone interviews with 6 parents.Combining the questionnaires and interview results,we found that the problems of educational discipline in elementary school under the cooperation between home and school in C city were.Firstly,unclear understanding of educational discipline by both home and school.Secondly lack of institutional protection and complaint channels in schools.Next,teachers’ fear of discipline and unclear disciplinary methods.Then,inconsistent willingness and action of parents to participate in discipline.Lastly,single content and way of parental participation in educational discipline.The main reasons for these problems are the lack of trust between home and school in cooperative education discipline;schools’ unclear attitude toward discipline and vague disciplinary rules;the lack of teachers’ attention to education discipline and the lack of competence in home-school cooperation;the backwardness of parents’ educational philosophy and neglect of their own educational responsibilities;the constraints of parents’ participation in discipline by objective factors;and the negative reports on education discipline by social media.To this end,we propose strategies for home-school cooperation in educational discipline.For schools,it should should formulate a disciplinary system to provide a guarantee for home-school cooperation.For teachers,they should enhance their own quality and play a leading role in home-school cooperation and discipline.For parents,they should improve their own participation ability and take responsibility for home-school cooperation in discipline.For society,it should guide discipline positively to create a favorable environment for home-school cooperation.
