The cultivation of students’ geography core literacy is a specific goal to implement the fundamental task of foster virtues.Accurate and effective evaluation of core literacy directly affects educational reform.The geography core literacy itself has complex characteristics.The way,to use traditional standardized pen-and-paper test as a single evaluation,can not adapt to the evaluation of core literacy,and even limit the development of core literacy.Performance evaluation is to investigate the development of students’ deep literacy in real or simulated situations.It also fits the characteristics of geography core literacy such as situation,implicitness,focusing on higher-order thinking,etc.It is an important tool to put core literacy into reality,and also has important significance for "evaluating literacy" and "improving literacy".Firstly,based on relevant concepts and theories of geography core literacy and performance evaluation through professional references,this paper discusses that performance evaluation can effectively measure the development level of geography core literacy.Secondly,this paper uses questionnaire to analyze recognition and implementation of performance evaluation,and discusses existing problems and deficiency causes of evaluation on geography teaching in current high school geography class.Thirdly,with guidance of experts,this paper constructs an performance evaluation system based on core literacy and proposes a universal scale framework.Finally,with practical case,the author uses performance evaluation in actual teaching.And the author hopes to promote teachers’ teaching and students’ learning by collecting and using student information about literacy performance.The main research conclusions of this paper are as follows.(1)This paper analyzes the implementation status of geographical performance evaluation in senior high school.The survey found that teachers hold a positive attitude towards performance evaluation in the current education reform.But they lack professional systematic theoretical guidance.The performance evaluation of high school geography has not formed a more authoritative scale design template,so there are not enough cases for reference.Therefore,problems such as poor task design,unreasonable scoring rules and untimely effective feedback are shown in practical operation,which directly affect the implementation effect of evaluation.(2)This paper constructs an evaluation index system of core literacy for high school geography.Based on the three basic elements of objective,task and scoring rules,this paper puts forward the design methods and steps of performance evaluation,so as to realize the dual significance of "evaluation" and "cultivation" of core literacy on geography discipline in a certain extent.Through expert consultation,this paper selects evaluation indicators of core literacy,and forms a performance evaluation scale composed of 4 first-level indicators and 13 second-level indicators.(3)This paper analyzes the practical application of performance evaluation of geographical core literacy in senior high school.Performance evaluation is carried out in two real situations of “testing” and“teaching”,and students’ performance is collected as evaluation evidence.The author finds that half of the students fail in core literacy and need to be further improved through the score of each index.In addition,there are many shortcomings in the evaluation system.For example,students do not have a thorough understanding of the evaluation criteria,or lack a certain understanding of geography core literacy leading to inaccurate evaluation,or face complex learning tasks without teachers’ timely guidance,and so on.
