The design of a history unit in the context of the Big Ideas are based on the idea that the Big Ideas are a way to transform knowledge into core literacy by integrating the know ledge of the unit into a whole.The design of junior secondary history units from Big Ideas perspective is motivated by a constant search for the nurturing value of history education.It facilitates students’ ov erall construction of subject knowledge and promotes students’ more profound understand ing of transferred knowledge and their ability to learn independently.To ensure that the d esign of history units in the context of the Big Ideas is effective,educators must follow th e principles of literacies,progressive development and holistic integration.On this basis,combining the current situation of domestic and international research and investigating the current learning and teaching situation in junior high school history classrooms,and in response to the problems existing in the current junior high school hist ory classroom,the integration mechanism of Big Ideas and junior high school history unit teaching design is actively explored,and five interlocking links are constructed.Firstly,t he content of the unit is distilled to determine the teaching theme of the unit;secondly,a h ierarchy of Big Ideas is constructed to integrate the knowledge of the unit and reconstruct the learning unit;thirdly,the expected learning outcomes are clarified and the teaching o bjectives of the unit and lesson are scientifically compiled;fourthly,the end is the beginni ng,a performance assessment scale is constructed and multiple assessments are combined throughout;fifthly,the context of the unit theme is created,a hierarchy of questions is co nstructed and activities are designed;Fifthly,creating a thematic context for the unit,buil ding a hierarchy of questions and designing activities.Finally,through specific teaching d esign cases,we build bridges with frontline teachers so as to promote the implementation of core literacy in secondary school history teaching.In conclusion,the design of junior high school history units under the Big Ideas pers pective is a clever move to meet the requirements of talent training in the new era.It is an essential contribution to the successful transformation of junior high school history core l iteracy classrooms.
