Abstract/Summary:
The Ministry of Education officially promulgated the General High School Geography Curriculum Standards(the new standards)in 2017,which identifies regional cognition as a core literacy of high school geography, and together with integrated thinking, geographic practicality and human-territorial coordination, they form the four core literacies of high school geography.Regional cognition refers to the ability and way of thinking of human beings to use spatial-territorial perspective to cognize their surroundings. For the cultivation of geography core literacy, the new standard advocates geography teachers to innovate teaching methods and use resources such as maps, pictures and geographic information technology to support geography teaching and cultivate students’ regional cognitive ability. After literature research and questionnaire survey of high school teachers and students, the author found that the maps in textbooks have certain limitations, and it is necessary to reconstruct and develop some maps in textbooks to get more forms and kinds of maps to help students understand complex geographic regional environment and geographic phenomena in all aspects and angles, and improve students’ regional cognitive ability. This paper mainly adopts specific research methods such as literature research method, questionnaire survey method, experimental method and case teaching method, and carries out research based on theoretical foundations such as modern map theory, constructivist learning theory and nearest development area theory, and the main research contents are as follows:(1)The questionnaire survey is used to find out the problems of map reconstruction. The survey found that the level of students’ map cognitive ability is low,and the textbook map can not fully meet the students’ geography learning. It is found that teachers rely too much on teaching materials to use maps, and their ability to reconstruct and develop teaching materials maps is insufficient.(2)The basic ways of textbook map reconstruction were proposed.First of all,the distribution of maps in the textbook was sorted out,and it was found that some of the maps in the textbook had some problems. When using maps to develop students’ regional cognitive ability,it was necessary to reconstruct some of the maps with problems. Then, using professional mapping software such as Arc GIS,Google Earth and Thing JS 3D visualization platform, some maps in the textbook were reconstructed into 3D maps. Finally, the map reconstruction resource library was built, using HTML,CSS3 and JS as the basis for the page layout, and the Bootstrap framework was used to build the resource library, which has the functions of uploading and saving maps, comparing the effect before and after map reconstruction, and downloading and exporting maps.(3)Designed teaching cases and conducted experimental comparisons.First of all,the application case of map reconstruction teaching was designed to teach "Observation of Landforms" in the first book of compulsory study of Human Education Edition as an example. Then, through the test paper evaluation method to test the effect of map reconstruction on the cultivation of students’ regional cognitive ability,it is found that the average scores of students in the experimental class are higher than those in the control class. Finally, through the comparison of the pre-test and post-test scores of the two classes, the effectiveness of map reconstruction in cultivating students’ regional cognitive ability is verified.
