| Critical students are referred to the senior middle school students whose predicted scores are near the admission mark of the college entrance examination.They have a significant proportion in senior schools.Critical students in mathematics are in the middle of the class and their basic knowledge is poor,thus they have great potential.The mathematical operation is one of the core literacies proposed in the General Senior Middle School Mathematics Curriculum Standards(2017 Version Revised in 2020).It is the basic ability for learning mathematics and an important factor affecting students’ performance in mathematics.Therefore,it is important to understand the current situation of the mathematical operation ability of the senior middle school mathematics critical students,to investigate the factors affecting their mathematical operation ability,to propose the strategies to develop their mathematical operation ability,since it can be used to improve the mathematical literacy of the critical students and the mathematics teaching level of the teachers in senior schools.Based on the relevant standards of the General Senior Middle School Mathematics Curriculum Standards about the mathematical operation ability in senior schools,referring to the questionnaires of mathematical operation ability in the literatures,this dissertation investigates the current situation of mathematical operation ability of senior middle school mathematics critical students by preparing corresponding questionnaires and test questions.The purpose of the survey is to find out the main factors affecting the operation ability of senior middle school mathematics critical students and to provide rational suggestions for cultivating the operation ability of senior middle school mathematics critical students.The results of the survey show that: the overall operational level of senior middle school mathematics critical students is moderately low;their interest in mathematics operation is located in the above-average level,but their self-efficacy is low;there are no significant differences for boys and girls in the interest for operational methods,but there are significant differences in operational ability and operational habits.By processing and analyzing the survey data,the factors influencing the operation ability of senior middle school mathematics critical students can be summarized in three levels: students,teachers and external environments.The factors at the student level include: poor basic knowledge;low interest and self-confidence in operation;bad operation habits;improper use of operation methods and the fear of complex calculations.The factors at the teacher level include: insufficient attention to mathematical critical students;insufficient attention to the development of operation.The factor at the external environment includes strong dependence on assistive computing devices.Based on the above analysis,this dissertation proposes the following cultivation strategies of mathematical critical students.These students should pay attention to the basic knowledge of mathematics;correct the attitude towards learning mathematics operation;enrich the operational methods and design the operational processes flexibly;make study plans and exercise strong will.The teachers should pay more attention to the mathematical critical students;carry out regular operational practice lessons;cultivate students to develop good operational habits.The society should reduce students’ use of electronic devices and computing aids. |
