| The problem of the mental health of adolescents is a major problem faced by all countries in the world,which has attracted great attention from the society.Researchers in various fields are also trying to explore more effective ways to deal with this problem.Positive education is one of that ways,which based on positive psychology,aims to improve students’ mental health and happiness through school intervention.In recent years,with the support of university research teams,many primary and secondary schools in China have also introduced positive education to promote the healthy and happy growth of students.However,some problems have gradually emerged,such as conflicts with mainstream education,cannot be implemented continuously,and failure to combine with China’s traditional culture and school characteristics.How to better apply positive education in the school environment and how to maximize the effectiveness is also the focus of international active education research.Many scholars put forward that the school-wide method of applying active education to all aspects of schools is likely to have high effect and sustainability of positive education.Geelong Grammar School in Australian is known as the "model of positive education",which is the first school in the world to applied positive education to the whole school system successfully.Therefore,this study starts from the current situation of positive education in China,treating Geelong Grammar school as the research object,raising the following questions around "school-wide positive education" : First,why should the GGS introduce positive education to their school? Why to emphasize the "school-wide nature" of positive education? Second,how does the GGS design a school-wide positive education? What is the guarantee? Thirdly,how does GGS specifically carry out the school-wide active education practice? How to integrate it into students’ activities in and out of class and their daily life?Fourth,how is the implementation effect of GGS school-wide positive education? Why it has this effect?This study using literature research method to carry out the GGS school positive education background,planning,implementation and effect of a detailed investigation,and reflect on the experience and problems,mainly draw the following conclusions: First,Geelong Grammar School’s school-wide active education takes place within the broader context of society and people, politics and education as well as within the context of the school itself.The mental health problems of adolescents in Australia have attracted great attention from the society.Both the national and school levels have taken corresponding measures to deal with this problem.Positive education has been widely used in Australia as a way to improve students’ well-being.Since the establishment of GGS,many ideas and goals are highly compatible with positive education.GGS decided to embed it into the whole school system to help the school and all members flourish,so the school-wide positive education can be carried out in GGS.Second,the Geelong Grammar School has been carefully designed to ensure the implementation of positive education.Experts were invited to design the " positive education model" throughout the school,including the goal,content and approach.They prepared funds to provide financial guarantee for the positive education practice.The positive education responsible institution was established to support it ’ s development,practice,evaluation and dissemination.Third,Geelong Grammar School mainly integrates positive education into all aspects of students’ school life through three ways: classroom teaching,extracurricular activities and daily life.Through independent courses and embedded original courses,students can learn the knowledge and skills of active education in the classroom.In the outside and inside the various extracurricular activities,students have the opportunity to deeply understand and apply positive education strategies;In daily relationships and life,students are guided to actively discover and apply positive education strategies to improve happiness and mental health.Fourth,the university of Melbourne made an independent longitudinal effect assessment for Geelong grammar school positive education.The results show that GGS students’ welfare significantly higher than the control group of students,but compared with itself appeared some unexpected results,and this study combined with the interview materials articles from students expectation,content,teacher level on the effect to analyse.Finally,this paper reflects and summarizes the experience and problems of GGS school-wide positive education,and puts forward thoughts on the development of positive education in China. |
