The teaching of fiction is an important part of language teaching,and the teaching of rhetoric in fiction is of great significance to improve students’ language literacy.Rhetorical teaching is essential to the proper,standardized,accurate and inseparable use of language.However,the teaching of rhetoric in high school novels has not received enough attention from teachers.The survey found that teachers have incomplete interpretation of the requirements of the Curriculum Standards and Examination Syllabus,too partial knowledge of rhetoric,and inaccurate grasp of rhetorical teaching content,which also affects the teaching of rhetoric and the cultivation of students’ rhetorical literacy in secondary schools.To this end,the author tries to start from the goals and requirements of rhetorical teaching in high school novels,sort out the rhetorical resources in the textbooks,and investigate the main problems of rhetorical teaching in high school novels and their root causes through questionnaires,teacher-student interviews,and teaching recordings,and then propose targeted teaching strategies and implementation ideas.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,the thesis is divided into five chapters:The introductory part introduces the reason for choosing the topic of the dissertation,the current situation of the study,the significance of the study,and the research method.The first chapter explores the objectives and contents of teaching rhetoric in high school novels.It compares the requirements related to the teaching of rhetoric in novels in the Curriculum Standards and the Examination Syllabus as well as the relevant assessment of rhetoric in novels in the entrance examination questions.Chapter 2 analyzes the use of positive and negative rhetorical devices involved in high school novels.On this basis,a basic understanding of the goals and contents of teaching rhetoric in high school novels is formed.Chapter 3 investigates the problems of rhetorical teaching in high school novels and their root causes.Mainly through questionnaires and interviews with teachers and students from different perspectives,the current situation of rhetorical teaching in high school novels is understood.At the same time,the problems related to the actual teaching of novel rhetoric are found from the selected teaching fact sheets.Chapter 4,based on the research in the first two chapters,proposes corresponding solution strategies for the problems of novel rhetoric teaching in high school language,and proposes targeted teaching improvement strategies from the perspectives of teaching cognition,teaching contents and teaching methods.Chapter 5 takes "The Wind and Snow Mountain Temple of Lin Guotou" as an example to explore how to further put the above-mentioned rhetorical teaching strategies into practice in the actual teaching design.The concluding section provides a brief summary of the thesis and its shortcomings.
