A series of documents such as the Outline of the "Healthy China 2030" Plan and the Opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening and Improving School Health and Wellness Education in the New Era all emphasise the need to increase efforts in school health education and place it in a more prominent position.For a long time,the physical education and health curriculum,as the main site of health education in schools,has shouldered the important mission of promoting students’ physical and mental health development.The importance of health education in the physical education and health curriculum has become more prominent with the inclusion of health education as one of the five major curriculum components in the Compulsory Education Physical Education and Health Curriculum Standards(2022 Edition).Taking Haikou City as an example,this paper mainly investigates the status of teachers,teaching contents,hours,teaching forms and evaluation of health education in the physical education and health curriculum of junior secondary schools in Haikou City through questionnaires,fieldwork and interviews,and accordingly tries and explores countermeasures to optimise the implementation of health education.The results of the study show that:1.the junior high schools in Haikou City undertake a diversified curriculum of health education,including physical education and health,biology,morality and rule of law,psychological counseling,and thematic class meetings.Among them,physical education and health courses are highly responsible,and the number of physical education teachers teaching health education in health education classes and motor skills practice classes are both 100%,and the main position is more prominent.2.the main subjects of health education implementation in junior high schools in Haikou City are diversified,including physical education teachers,school nurses,outside experts,biology teachers and psychology teachers,but physical education teachers are not actively invited to participate in classroom teaching,and the main subjects of health education teaching in physical education and health courses are only physical education teachers.Physical education teachers’ health concept cognition is clear,and health knowledge mastery is mainly related to motor skills;100% of teachers attend health education training,but the training content is insufficient and mainly focuses on first aid knowledge.3.the basis for physical education teachers to choose the content of health education is clearer,mainly based on the curriculum and teaching materials,but in the process of implementation,they mainly teach according to the areas they like and are good at;the content taught by physical education teachers is mainly related to practical lessons,and more attention is paid to three aspects: knowledge and skills of preventing sports injuries and illnesses,the role of sports,and knowledge of obesity;the content taught by physical education teachers and the content preferred by students The supply and demand are consistent.4.The majority of physical education teachers arrange health education for 1-2 hours in physical education and health courses,and the number of hours offered is relatively small and cannot meet students’ requirements.5.Physical education teachers choose various means and methods of health education,mainly lecturing and multimedia teaching,while the educational means and methods preferred by students are mainly organising health education practice activities,visiting health education exhibitions,exchange and discussion,catechism,micro-lesson and flipped classroom,and there are obvious differences between supply and demand.6.The evaluation methods of health education in physical education and health courses in junior high schools in Haikou are insufficient,with only 18.33% of physical education teachers focusing on verbal tests in the classroom and 13.33% on online tests;close to half of junior high school students currently fail to meet the health education academic quality passing standards at graduation,cannot fully describe the methods of self-assessment and monitoring in physical exercise,and the ability to prevent sports injuries exists The number of students who are inadequate in preventing sports injuries is still high.In response to these findings,the following countermeasures are proposed: 1.focus on improving the professionalism of physical education teachers,while broadening the scope of training;2.optimise the content,taking into account the characteristics of the subject and the richness of the content;3.strengthen management and guarantee health education class time;4.make reasonable use of information technology education tools and methods;5.establish a standardised health education evaluation system...
