The Hongyan Spirit was nurtured in Chongqing during the Anti-Japanese War,the New Democratic Revolution and the Liberation War,and is the noble revolutionary spirit cultivated and carried forward by the proletarian revolutionaries represented by Comrade Zhou Enlai and the Hongyan revolutionaries in the course of their revolutionary struggle to defend national sovereignty and fight for national independence and people’s liberation.It is an important part of the advanced socialist culture,the excellent traditional Chinese culture and the spiritual genealogy of the Chinese Communists.In the 100 years since the founding of the Party,the Hongyan Spirit has played a vital role in the Chinese Revolution and the building of the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics,and is a splendid spiritual treasure of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese nation.Since the 18 th National Congress,General Secretary Xi Jinping has made a series of important speeches on the history and culture of Chongqing,stressing the need to make good use of these red resources of Chongqing.Several important documents have been issued in China providing policy support and guiding instructions to promote the integration of Red culture,such as the spirit of the Hongyan,into the teaching of ideology and politics in secondary schools.In the great journey to comprehensively promote national rejuvenation with Chinese-style modernization,the use of the Hongyan spirit in the teaching of high school students can better exploit the role of political leadership and pastoralism in high school students’ civic and politics classes.Although many scholars have explored the meaning,value,and characteristics of the Hongyan spirit,current research on the integration of the Hongyan spirit into high school civics classes is insufficient to meet the real need for the Hongyan spirit in the current stage of high school civics education.Therefore,this study takes this as a starting point,combining it with the relevant content of a new textbook to explore how to help high school civics teachers effectively integrate the spirit of Hongyan into high school civics instruction.This research will be conducted in the following three main ways.Firstly,this study uses a combination of documentary analysis and historical realities to explain the connotations and characteristics of the spirit of Hongyan and the importance and feasibility of integrating the spirit of Hongyan into the teaching of high school ideology and politics classes,starting with the questions of "what" and "why".Based on an analysis of the existing literature,the author analyses the importance of integrating the spirit of Hongyan into the teaching of high school ideology and politics from the following four aspects: it is conducive to enhancing high school students’ historical consciousness and patriotic education;it is conducive to cultivating high school students’ core literacy in ideology and politics;the integration of the spirit of Hongyan is an intrinsic driving force for the development of high school ideology and politics teaching;the spirit of Hongyan provides rich resources and vehicles for teaching high school ideology and politics.resources and vehicles for teaching ideology and politics.Secondly,this study uses questionnaires and interviews to address the question of "how".Through the investigation of high school students and teachers in three high schools in Chongqing,this paper understands the current situation of the integration of the spirit of Hongyan into the teaching of ideological and political courses in high schools,analyzes the current situation,and deeply explores the problems and root causes in the process of integrating the spirit of Hongyan.The author finds that the integration of the spirit of Hongyan into the teaching of high school ideology and politics has achieved some success.However,the following three main problems exist in the current integration process: the purpose of integrating the spirit of Hongyan into the teaching of high school ideology and politics is not clear enough;the content of the spirit of Hongyan is not sufficiently explored in the teaching of high school ideology and politics;and the method of integrating the spirit of Hongyan into the teaching of high school ideology and politics is relatively single.Through investigation and analysis,the author finds that the main reasons for the problems are: some high school teachers and students do not attach enough importance to the integration of the spirit of Hongyan into the teaching of high school ideology and politics classes under exam-oriented education;the ability of some high school ideology and politics teachers to integrate the spirit of Hongyan into the teaching of high school ideology and politics classes needs to be improved;some high schools do not implement policies related to the integration of the spirit of Hongyan into the teaching of high school ideology and politics classes.Finally,the question of "how to integrate" should be addressed.Based on the results of a questionnaire survey of high school students in three Chongqing high schools and interviews with some Chongqing high school teachers of ideology and politics,this study proposes effective countermeasures for integrating the spirit of Hongyan into the teaching of high school ideology and politics.The study focuses on teachers,teaching content,teaching methods and high school schools for analysis.First,the teachers’ aspect.The two aspects of teachers’ awareness of Hongyan spirit education and teachers’ ability to teach Hongyan spirit education are cultivated.Second,the teaching content aspect.To explore the content of integrating the spirit of Hongyan into high school ideology and politics classes,and to analyse the teaching entry points for integrating the spirit of Hongyan into teaching high school ideology and politics classes.Third,teaching methods.Focusing on high school students,explore the methods of integrating the spirit of Hongyan into teaching.Fourth,the high school school aspect.A sound mechanism for integrating the spirit of Hongyan into the teaching of high school ideology and politics classes.Through the synergistic effect of these four aspects of the same direction and force,the teaching effect of integrating the spirit of Hongyan into high school ideology and politics classes will be enhanced,so that high school students will internalise the spirit of Hongyan at a deep level. |
