The "Standards for Ideological and Political Courses in Ordinary High Schools(2017 Edition,2020 Revision)" clearly states that high school ideological and political courses are key courses to implement the fundamental task of cultivating morality and cultivating people,with the aim of cultivating socialist core values.They are comprehensive and activity oriented subject courses that help students establish the correct political direction,improve the core literacy of ideological and political disciplines,and enhance social understanding and participation abilities.High school political teachers should use this as a teaching guide,comply with the new curriculum,new textbooks,and the trend of the new college entrance examination reform,update their teaching concepts,improve their teaching abilities,change their teaching methods,and accumulate more teaching literacy in order to adapt to the current teaching changes.Compared to traditional political teaching classrooms,the topic based teaching method is more suitable for the current environment,with core competencies as the axis,topics as the axis,and materials,situations,and activities as the axis.It allows teachers and students to enjoy the classroom together,establish efficient classroom interaction,cultivate students’ core competencies,and implement the fundamental task of cultivating morality and cultivating people.At the same time,in the context of comprehensively promoting the rule of law in the country,cultivating the awareness of the rule of law among high school students has become an important part of the core literacy.Therefore,the elective course "Law and Life" in high school has become an important carrier for the implementation of the topic based teaching method.This article focuses on exploring the problems,reasons,and strategies of using the topic based teaching method in the high school "Law and Life" classroom.The research methods mainly use literature research,case analysis,questionnaire survey,and qualitative analysis.The research content of this article is divided into four parts.The first part focuses on the connotation,characteristics,and theoretical basis of topic based teaching.This article first defines the topic based teaching method as a teaching method that takes core competencies as the axis,issues as the axis,and materials,situations,and activities as the axis points to construct a dual role model for students and teachers;Secondly,the characteristics of the topic based teaching method are elaborated around topic orientation,process interactivity,knowledge integration,and practical exploration;Finally,it points out the theoretical basis for this paper: Marxist epistemology,constructivist learning theory and humanistic learning theory.The second part mainly explores the application of topic based teaching method in the "Law and Life" classroom to improve ideological and political education The significance of three aspects: teachers,students,etc.The third part,based on the author’s five years of teaching experience and survey data from both the teacher and student editions,reveals the main problems in using the topic based teaching method in the high school "Law and Life" classroom.The main problems lie in the insufficient awareness of teachers in using the topic based teaching method,improper integration of legal materials and topics by teachers,low level of teacher guidance for students to participate in legal issues,and poor effectiveness in using the topic based teaching method in the classroom.Then identify the reasons through the problems: mainly from the aspects of insufficient knowledge reserves of teacher’s topic based teaching method,incomplete legal knowledge system of teachers,detachment of topic selection from legal materials,students’ one-sided emphasis on grades,imbalanced learning focus and classroom discussions becoming mere formality,and single school classroom evaluation,etc.,consider the influencing factors.The fourth part proposes corresponding solutions to the problems and reasons summarized in the previous text.This article mainly elaborates on the aspects of teachers increasing their knowledge reserves of topic based teaching methods,familiarizing themselves with classroom topic participation processes,improving the legal knowledge system through multiple channels,integrating legal materials and topics,guiding students to radiate classroom topics,balancing the learning focus,and improving the classroom diversified evaluation mechanism.
