Under the background of the rural revitalization strategy, although the material conditions of rural schools have greatly improved, with the acceleration of urbanization, rural schools are facing new problems and challenges, such as the gradual blurring of the foundation of local culture in rural schools, and the difficulty in forming excellent rural school culture.School culture is an endogenous force for the development of a school,as well as the lifeblood and soul of the school’s development. To solve these problems,it is necessary to strengthen the cultural construction of rural schools. As the leaders of rural school development, whether rural primary school principals possess cultural leadership and their level of leadership are closely related to the cultural construction of rural schools. This study is also based on this, exploring ways and methods to enhance the cultural leadership of rural primary school principals,in order to help improve the cultural leadership level of principals and achieve cultural education.Through theoretical analysis of principal cultural leadership, the connotation of principal cultural leadership, namely the ability of principals to build school culture,is clarified. At the same time, based on previous research results and the reality of rural education and school development, the structural elements of cultural leadership of principals are divided and explained, including five aspects: cultural cognition, integration, design, implementation, and evaluation. On the basis of these five dimensions,a survey questionnaire and interview outline for cultural leadership of rural primary school principals have been developed. The research mainly focuses on the cultural leadership level of rural primary school principals in Y County,Henan Province, through a combination of questionnaire surveys and interview surveys.Analysis of the survey results shows that the overall cultural leadership of rural primary school principals is at a relatively good level. However,a specific analysis of each dimension reveals that rural primary school principals have certain problems in these areas that need to be improved. The main problems are that there is a certain deviation in the cultural cognition of rural primary school principals, the degree of cultural integration is low,the integration of cultural resources inside and outside the school is limited, the development planning in cultural design is vague, and the effectiveness of cultural implementation is limited.Further practice is needed, and the comprehensiveness and objectivity of cultural evaluation are insufficient. There is great room for improvement in evaluation literacy.Through cause analysis,it was found that the reasons for the above-mentioned problems among rural primary school principals are multifaceted, resulting from a combination of factors such as the principal’s personal situation, the actual development of the school, the external environment of the school, and the educational system. As for the principal himself, the lack of personal cultural leadership awareness and limited self-directed learning inhibit the generation of cultural leadership; In terms of the actual development of the school, the weak faculty and the gradual loss of students have hindered the principal’s cultural leadership role;In terms of the external environment of the school, limited cooperation from parents and lack of relevant training also reduce the effectiveness of the principal’s cultural leadership; In terms of the education system, the limited autonomy of principals in running schools under the current education management system and the existing score oriented education evaluation mechanism also limit the implementation of principals’ cultural leadership. On the basis of reasonable attribution, enhancing the cultural leadership of rural primary school principals also requires improvement from the perspective of the principal himself, the internal and external environment of the school,as well as the education administrative department. The main strategies are as follows: firstly, the principal should update their concepts, awaken their cultural leadership awareness, learn independently, and enhance their professional abilities, thereby promoting the generation of cultural leadership;Secondly, integrating the power of teachers and students, building a cultural community to fully leverage the role of the principal’s cultural leadership;Thirdly,by improving the external environment, strengthening family school community cooperation, and improving the training system, the effectiveness of the principal’s cultural leadership can be effectively enhanced;Fourthly, relevant education departments should carry out top-level design, change management systems, provide practical guidance, and ensure the implementation of cultural leadership among rural primary school principals. |
