The National Medium and Long-Term Education Reform and Development Plan clearly states that "the concept of diverse talents should be established, individual choice should be respected and individual development should be encouraged".In the teaching of physics in general high schools, physics teachers usually design their teaching according to the level of intermediate students in the class, which can easily lead to the phenomenon of "not having enough" for the best students and "indigestion" for those who are struggling. In order to enable each student to develop fully, teachers should pay attention to individual differences and implement differentiated teaching according to the individual characteristics of the students,so as to teach them according to their abilities. In large classes, personalized tutoring for the best and the worst students is an effective solution to the current problem. At present, physics teachers in schools lack a systematic approach to the tutoring of students,do not have a comprehensive understanding of students resulting in poorly targeted tutoring, have a single approach to tutoring, have short tutoring times, have little tutoring sessions and are not sufficiently consistent to solve students’ physics learning problems thoroughly. In a key public secondary school in Chongqing, students in the class I teach are used as the target of the study.Questionnaires, interviews and file bag evaluation are used to study the current situation of personalized tutoring and to propose an implementation model for personalized tutoring. The main research components of this thesis include the following parts:The first part of the main content: the background of the problem, the current situation of related research, the significance and purpose of the research and the research methodology of the thesis. The second part focuses on the definition of the concept of personalized tutoring and the theoretical basis of the study. The third part of the thesis focuses on the development of questionnaires to investigate the current situation of personalized tutoring for teachers and students respectively. The current situation of personalized tutoring was investigated for teachers and students, and the causes of the problem were identified based on the findings. The fourth part of the study: based on the existing literature and combined with the actual survey, the personalized tutoring model was compiled. The personalized tutorial model is divided into three phases: preparation phase, implementation phase and testing phase. In the preparation phase, students are grouped according to their physics performance, learning style, learning interests, learning goals, and specific problems in physics learning. The implementation phase starts with one-to-one tutorials for the group leader, who then tutors the group members on intellectual issues, and group tutorials or class tutorials for non-intellectual issues. In the testing phase, the effectiveness of personalized tutoring is judged by observation, conversation and paper-and-pencil tests(examinations). The fifth section focuses on the specific implementation of the personalized tutoring model in Part 4.It is discussed in detail about the grouping of students and the specific implementation methods, and the effects of personalized tutoring are analyzed. The sixth part is a summary of the study, including an analysis of the results of the personalized tutorials and a discussion of the difficulties and shortcomings of the study. This study proposes a highly targeted and feasible personalized tutoring model for high school physics, and it has been tested in practice. The personalized tutoring model, which is highly targeted, respects the students’ individual characteristics and also combines the subject characteristics of high school physics. The effectiveness of personalized tutoring was tested and found to be effective. After personalized tutoring, students’ behavioral habits were improved, their learning ability were improved, and their final physics scores were increased significantly. It shows that personalized tutoring has good effect on students. |
