| The BOPPPS teaching model takes effective teaching as the main purpose,including six parts: introduction,learning objectives,pre-test,participatory learning,post-test and summary,etc.The core of the model is participatory learning.The BOPPPS teaching model with participatory learning as its core focuses on teaching objectives,emphasises students’ active participation in the learning process,increases students’ participation in classroom teaching,and achieves the purpose of effective teaching and learning.At present,the BOPPPS teaching model has been widely used in China to reform the classroom teaching in higher education,but the practical research at the high school education level is very limited.Whether the BOPPPS teaching model can be introduced at the high school education level to promote the reform and development of classroom teaching needs further study.Therefore,this study attempts to introduce the BOPPPS teaching model into high school biology classroom teaching in order to investigate whether this teaching model has significant effects on improving the participation and effectiveness of biology classroom teaching.This study adopted the literature review method to collect and organize the relevant literature on the BOPPPS teaching model.By using the questionnaire and interview method,combined with classroom observation,we surveyed the first and second year high school students and frontline biology teachers in the education practice schools to understand the current situation of high school biology classroom teaching and the problems in the teaching process.The result showed that some students were not interested in learning biology and did not actively participate in classroom teaching activities;frontline teachers had a fixed teaching mode and a single teaching form,and they did not know much about the BOPPPS teaching mode.Based on this,we designed an instructional design based on the BOPPPS teaching model to suit the school’s learning situation and started a semester-long teaching practice.In the teaching practice,the BOPPPS teaching model was applied to the second year of compulsory 3,"Homeostasis and Environment",for example,and the teaching design focused on the students’ participation in the class and let them experience the process of acquiring knowledge.After the teaching lesson,students and teachers were surveyed separately.The impact of applying the BOPPPS teaching model on the classroom teaching process,teacher-student interaction and communication,and teaching effectiveness was also analyzed based on classroom observations,post-test results,and student performance.The results of the practical study showed that the implementation of the BOPPPS teaching model could significantly increase students’ classroom participation,significantly improve students’ performance and the effectiveness of classroom teaching.The results of the teaching practice show that the BOPPPS teaching model is not only applicable to high school biology classroom teaching,but also has plays a very important role in improving students’ learning interest,learning initiative and motivation and promoting participatory learning.This study provides research data and reference examples for the application of the BOPPPS teaching mode in high school biology classroom teaching,and provides new ideas for teachers to explore and innovate classroom teaching methods in the classroom. |
