| The Biology Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022edition)emphasizes that the biology curriculum pays great attention to students’ practical experiences in the learning process and makes students the main subjects of learning.Model teaching can involve students in the process of classroom teaching, and it can also enhance students’ interest in learning and cultivate learning attitudes, thus improving scientific thinking skills. Therefore, research on model making and hands-on teaching is particularly important. The main purpose of this study is to improve students’ interest in learning biology and to develop scientific thinking skills by making and using models in teaching.Using literature research method, survey method and action research method,we reviewed the current research status of model teaching at home and abroad, surveyed six biology teachers and 200 students in a middle school in A flag to understand the current situation of model making and application in the school, and sorted out the relevant knowledge points of adopting models in the textbook of the seventh grade of middle school biology of the Human Education version and the teaching contents suitable for using models. The teacher prepared the model before class, and the students applied the model in class and made the model after class. The teacher prepared the models before class, students applied them in class and made them after class. Finally, the effectiveness of the teaching was evaluated at both student and teacher levels. The main findings of the paper are as follows.1.Through the investigation of the current situation of making and applying models in the teaching process in a middle school in Banner A,it was found that the school mainly used multimedia courseware and the use rate of models was low,and most teachers and students had a good attitude toward the use of models.2.The students’ evaluation of the classroom teaching effect after two teaching practices showed that making models for knowledge construction could not only enhance the understanding and memory of biological knowledge, but also improve the classroom participation and learning interest.3.By conducting questionnaires to students in the practice classes before and after the teaching practice, the results of statistical analysis showed that modeling can improve students’ interest in learning biology and develop learning attitudes.4.Through the evaluation of the design, production and use of models by the teachers,it was concluded that the design and production of models should pay attention not only to the external factors such as color matching, size and economic cost of the models, but also to the internal factors such as the students’ existing knowledge level and the content of the model display. |
