| Middle school students in adolescence face increasing academic pressure,prone to academic procrastination,which affects their physical and mental development,so academic procrastination is an urgent problem affecting students’ learning.This study was conducted to understand and analyze the current situation and characteristics of academic procrastination among middle school students,and to explore the effectiveness of Gestalt group psychological counseling course on academic procrastination of middle school students.Firstly,this study adopted Middle School Students’ Academic Procrastination Questionnaire compiled by Zuo Yanmei.The middle school students of a secondary school in Nanchang were investigated and tested,and 150 valid questionnaires were collected.Students with high level of academic procrastination were selected as subjects based on the questionnaire results,and were divided into 28 in the course group and 29 in the non-course group according to the voluntary principle and homogeneity test results.Secondly,a group psychological counseling course based on the Gestalt technique was designed,and six Gestalt group psychological counseling sessions were implemented for the course group,while the non-course group did not receive any intervention.Finally,the conclusion was drawn by comparing the pre-test and post-test of the course group and the non-course group,and the data and feedback were used to evaluate the implementation effectiveness of the Gestalt group psychological counseling course.Results: 1.Middle school students had some degree of academic procrastination,with procrastination plan and procrastination summary significantly higher than moderate procrastination level.2.Middle school students’ procrastination level differed significantly by gender,with boys’ academic procrastination level significantly higher than girls’.3.After the implementation of the Gestalt group psychological counseling course,the academic procrastination level of the course group was significantly lower than that before,while there was no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test of the non-course group.Conclusion: Gestalt group psychological counseling course can effectively improve middle school students’ academic procrastination and can have implications for school mental health educators in the aspect of academic procrastination. |
