Dilemma Of Urban Empty Nest Elderly In The Intelligent Age

While the digital economy of our country is changing to a new stage,the network popularity rate of the old group is low,even some old people have not touched the network at all,many old people are facing the digital divide predicament.For a variety of reasons,empty-nesters whose children are busy with work and who are not familiar with smart technology also lack access to digital technology and are unable to maintain regular contact with their children or other family members,this makes the digital divide of empty-nest elderly more and more serious,thus affecting social interaction,so social work involved in the digital divide of empty-nest elderly plight of urgent research.Based on my Honggutan New District experience in Nanchang and Social Work Service Agency,this study focused on the empty-nest elderly living in Community X.The social worker uses the group work intervention way,develops“The Wisdom Silver Age” surmounts the digital divide predicament study growth ability promotion group activity,to explore the role of group work in bridging the digital divide among empty-nesters.In this paper,the methods of observation and unstructured interview were used to collect relevant data.This study fully understood the present situation and function of social work intervention in the digital divide plight of empty-nest elderly,and concluded that social work can encourage the disadvantaged groups to cross the digital divide plight,and help the empty-nest elderly learn to use intelligent devices,enhance its ability to address the digital divide dilemma.The social worker applies the theory to the group work practice,carries on the six sections group activity separately.After process evaluation and result evaluation,the empty-nest elderly in community X have made remarkable achievements in crossing the digital divide,and their ability to use and understand smartphones has been improved,which can help them to have normal social interactions to a certain extent,these positive changes prove to some extent that social work is feasible in helping empty-nesters cross the digital divide.At the end of this paper,the author reflects on the three levels of service object,social worker and social work organization,and points out that the government and social organizations should pay attention to building a civilized and harmonious social environment for the empty-nest elderly,to strengthen the humanistic care for the empty-nests and call for strengthening the support of the digital divide family network for the elderly.
