Study On Social Adaptation Of Elderly Widows In Rural Areas By Case Work

The aging of China’s population has brought about more needs and problems related to the elderly.With the growth of age,the physical health status of the elderly gradually declines,and their original social role gradually weakens and weakens,resulting in social adaptation problems at the level of economic income,mental condition and social participation.The elderly widows in rural areas,as a relatively vulnerable group,need more attention from the outside world because of the changes in their lives after the death of their spouses.Solving the problem of social adaptation of elderly widows in rural areas is the premise of improving the quality of life of this group.This paper uses the relevant model and theory of case work to intervene in a certain case to solve the crisis and social adaptation problems of the service objects after the widows.Through interview,participatory observation and scale analysis,this study collected information and materials of cases,analyzed the corresponding problems and needs of cases through professional knowledge and theories of social work,and made service plans according to specific conditions,carried out case work and evaluated the service process and effect.This study defines the social adaptation of service objects as three dimensions: economic income,mental state relationship and social activity participation.In the practical process,case work is used for practical intervention,and crisis intervention theory,social support theory and narrative theory are used as theoretical guidance.From the above three operational dimensions,the client can be assisted out of the crisis through emotional counseling,social recovery and consolidation,so that the client can gradually improve their own social adaptability.The study found that case work is in line with the needs of elderly widows in rural areas.Crisis intervention,narrative therapy and other models and theories can quickly help the elderly to recognize and restructure the crisis,so that they can adapt to the life after the loss as soon as possible.However,the case work has corresponding limitations,and it needs the joint efforts of many forces to solve the problem of social adaptation of the elderly widows in rural areas.
