In recent years,the booming development of Internet technology has strengthened the communication between enterprises,and the trend of global knowledge economy integration has become increasingly obvious.Faced with the fierce international competitive environment,enterprises around the world have changed their strategies from competing for external resources to cultivating internal strategic resources for long-term returns,and talents,as the most dynamic factor of production,have gradually received extensive attention from scholars.China’s economic development has moved from the high-speed growth stage to a new stage of high-quality development.The report of the 20 th Party Congress clearly states that we must accelerate the construction of a new development pattern,focus on promoting high-quality development,continue to thoroughly implement the strategy of strengthening the country with talents,and comprehensively strengthen the construction of professional and technical talents.As the mainstay of microeconomic activities,enterprises play a key role in stimulating market dynamics,exploring new economic dynamics and achieving high-quality economic development.In the context of China’s in-depth implementation of the strategy of "strengthening the country and enterprises with talents",on-the-job training,as an important way for enterprises to cultivate human resources,has become a key factor in enhancing the market competitiveness and economic efficiency of enterprises.The existing literature on the high-quality development of enterprises mainly focuses on the business environment and industrial policies,but less on the impact of talent cultivation on the high-quality development of enterprises.In the context of the integration of the global knowledge economy,how to cultivate professional and technical talents and enhance human capital is of great significance to the high-quality development of enterprises.Based on this,this paper examines the impact of on-the-job training on the high-quality development of enterprises,using Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies in China from 2011-2021 as the research object.The findings show that:(1)On-the-job training can significantly promote the high-quality development of enterprises.(2)The mechanism of action is found to be that on-the-job training promotes high-quality development of enterprises by enhancing their technological innovation and resource allocation efficie.(3)Further tests revealed that the impact of on-the-job training on the quality of enterprise development was more significant in state-owned enterprises and large-scale enterprises;and that product market competition had a positive moderating effect on the relationship between on-the-job training and high-quality enterprise development.After the endogeneity test and robustness test,the conclusion still holds.Based on a new perspective of technological innovation and resource allocation efficiency,this article explores the comprehensive impact of on-the-job training on high-quality development of enterprises,enriching relevant literature on factors affecting high-quality development of enterprises.This article expands the governance effect of on-the-job training,and provides important practical implications for human capital management,innovation driven strategies,and high-quality economic development in Chinese enterprises.
