Chinese universities have introduced the tenure-track system for teachers as a means of selecting outstanding talent and stimulating the vitality of teachers.However,issues and concerns during the system’s implementation have led to a widespread social response.Therefore,It is of great value and significance to study the operation mechanism of the tenure-track system for teachers in Chinese universities.Using the text analysis method,the research selected 15 Chinese universities’ tenure-track policy documents as analysis samples.By following the logical relationship of "what kind of teachers to choose" "how to motivate teachers" "how to evaluate teachers" and "how teachers were promoted and withdrawn",the research focused on the theoretical analysis framework of "admission mechanism" "incentive mechanism" "evaluation mechanism" and "promotion and exit mechanism" in the operation mechanism of the tenure-track system for teachers in Chinese universities.The operation mechanism of the tenure-track system for teachers in Chinese universities emphasizes the selection and training of teachers and reflects a clear academic orientation.Generally speaking,the operation mechanism of the tenure-track system in Chinese universities has similarities,but there are some differences in specific regulations.Due to the disregard of the internal logic of the system,there is a problem with the generalization of tenure-track system implementation objects.The evaluation of teachers is result-oriented,with obvious performance-based evaluations,and there are issues concerning the legal basis and supporting systems in the promotion and exit mechanism.Additionally,the operation mechanism of the tenure-track system for teachers in Chinese universities reflects a obvious instrumental value orientation.Therefore,the operation mechanism of the tenure-track system for teachers in Chinese universities should follow the internal logic of the system and standardize the selection of implementation objects.In addition,the evaluation mechanism should be optimized,a multi-dimensional and effective evaluation system should be established,and the supporting mechanism should be improved to promote the legal and orderly flow of teachers.At the same time,it is also necessary to strengthen the scientific cognition of the tenure-track system of university teachers,and pay more attention to the purposeful value orientation of its operation mechanism.
